In celebration of #PrideMonth, our PRIDE APTIM Inclusion Network (AIN) hosted an LGBTQIA+ cultural impact event. Participants learned about the inclusion and history of the LGBTQIA+ community and their contributions to American culture through rights movements, iconography, entertainment, celebrations, and more. We are proud and excited to share more about the growth of this supportive space within APTIM. To cultural organisations seeking to embrace JEDI (justice, equality, diversity and inclusion) values remember that: 🖍️having your failures pointed out to you is NOT being rude 🖍️an apology is taking accountability for your lack of accessibility NOT blaming the individual for your failures 🖍️saying “other disabled people managed” is NOT accessibility 🖍️a complaint being made against your organisation is NOT personal. It’s a hope that things will be better for others in the future We all deserve a place in society. If you don’t believe that then don’t preach that for kudos. This happens in too many museums. I’m so tired of it. #disabled #jedi #inclusion #speakup #equalitymatters #equalitynow #museumofthefuture #practicenotpreach

Over the summer we at Trivium Packaging ran an internal campaign where people shared their reflections about Pride and LGBTQ+ topics. I was impressed by the courage and openness shown by the employees who contributed. It was also an eye-opener to see how many are impacted by diversity and inclusion in many different ways. As one of the employees put it: “Inclusion is everyone’s business.” I would also argue that improving understanding of DEIB is business critical. Diverse teams bring diversity of thought when people feel included and accepted which in turn spurs innovation and growth. Diversity also addresses recruitment challenges by widening the talent pool. So, yes, “inclusion is everyone’s business” and it is also the foundation for business growth and continuity. Keep an eye on Trivium Packaging’s LinkedIn to read a few of the reflections from our employees. #WeContainWhatMatters
At Trivium, we believe everyone deserves to shine as their truest self! This is why this year, we chose to celebrate Pride by collecting stories about what Pride means to our people from across our global community. 🌈 Diving deeper, our colleagues emphasise the importance of being respectful and understanding that the LGBTQIA+ community is as diverse as the identities of its members. Stay tuned throughout this journey as we celebrate the vibrancy of our community! #WeContainWhatMatters #DEIB #inclusion

Fostering inclusive narratives is paramount for amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups (URGs) within our society. Without such visibility, there is a risk that individuals from majority groups may overlook or discount the experiences of URGs, perpetuating a narrative of non-existence. To combat this, organizations must implement robust internal communication strategies aimed at showcasing the stories and experiences of individuals from URGs. By providing a platform for these narratives to be shared, we can challenge preconceived notions and promote a culture of inclusivity. Let's embrace #YesWeExist and prioritize #inclusion through the power of #storytelling. #URGs #lgbtqia

I won’t pretend like this isn’t a complex subject to discuss, but it has to be done with respect, care and positive intentions. Otherwise, we’ll continue to have emotional conversations based upon ignorance that really only puts the transgender community in harms way. With hate crimes on the rise, the stakes are far greater than sport competition for the transgender community. The confusion within sport is a symptom of some much bigger unresolved societal flaws we refuse to face. Wherever you stand on the issue of competition, please don’t conflate that with basic human and civil rights. And by all means, please choose to operate with love, compassion and a heart to understand. That really shouldn’t be too much to ask of any of us, right? I don’t think so. Even still, I can’t promise that a discussion on fair, humane and inclusive outcomes for all student-athletes is going to be simple or easy, but we’ll get further than we are now. I’ve learned that life doesn’t have to be a zero-sum equation where we meaninglessly fight one another for self-preservation. No one wins when we allow inflexible ideologies to disconnect us. We can be so much more to -and for- one another. ✌🏽 ❤️ #transgender #transally #transathlete #ncaa #ncaasports #liathomas #inclusion #humanity #humanrights #civilrights #ktvu #drshaun #sport #diversity #dei #love #compassion 📺 KTVU 2

🌈 On a company level, involvement in local and national events such as Pride can show support to local communities and your employees. Despite Pride Month ending, it’s important that providing a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ employees isn’t just something that’s paid lip service once a year. In this blog, we speak with Iida, a member of the Finnish games industry, who shares their experience as a member of this community, and provides advice on being a better ally 💚 If you too want to learn how to be a better ally to your peers, check out the full blog post through the link in the comments 💬 #gamedevelopment #LGBTQIAPlus #gameindustry #pride

Marsha P. Johnson: 'No Pride for Some of Us Without Liberation for All of Us' 🏳️🌈 Marsha P. Johnson's powerful words serve as a reminder that true pride and progress come from lifting each other up, hand in hand. Inclusivity isn't just a buzzword; it's a commitment to a brighter future where every voice is heard and valued. As a coach, I wholeheartedly embrace this message. My workshops are meticulously designed to build bridges and foster understanding among diverse individuals. We delve deep into the unique experiences of neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities, promoting acceptance and celebration of every individual's identity. In our collective journey towards liberation and equality, no one should be left behind. It's not just about some of us; it's about all of us. Together, we can create a world where pride knows no bounds, where every person is free to express their authentic self, and where diversity is our greatest strength. Let's continue Marsha P. Johnson's legacy by working hand in hand to build a more inclusive and equitable society. Your voice matters, and together, we can ensure that no one is left behind in our pursuit of progress and liberation. 🌍🌈 #InclusivityMatters #PrideForAll

Consultant Clinical Psychologist | Neurodivergent (ADHD) | doing things differently, driven by my values | #neurodivergence #ADHD #autism | aspiring to be #neuroaffirmative #antiracist #antiableist
Sharing this helpful and thought provoking framework for helping us reflect on different aspects of diversity in the context of our practice - the Zones of Practice. Thank you to Rosy Hawksley who told me about it. There are three versions relating to (in particular order): 1. Neurodiversity-affirming practice (Kerry Murphy, 2023) 2. LGBTQIA+ affirming practice (RCSLT & UK SLT Pride Network, 2023) 3. Becoming an anti-racist (Andrew Ibrahim, 2020) I understand that the Zones of Practice framework originally emerged in response to the BLM movement. You can find all three versions via this link: https://lnkd.in/eQzS8qZt

So so wrong
Director of Plinth House, a training and consultancy agency which supports the higher education sector to respond to complex student cases, incidents, and student distress
A primary school in London. A boy holding a sign saying “I can’t even think straight”? Enough. As education providers - primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, and universities - it’s time to get our house in order. We did not fight for lesbian and gay equality for this.
