I suspect that many other rivers (https://lnkd.in/e7zZ-U57) are in the same state, utility companies should be held to account, re-invest rather than issue dividends. The system has been allowed to deteriorate to such a degree that the costs are massively significant to get up to a reasonable standard. The government doesn't want to spend anything and expects 'the markets' to pick up the tab, which in effect will mean higher bills to everyone (more dividends?) and interest being paid on loans to banks etc. Support this campaign, we are a leading nation in the world, but need to sort our backyard out first.

Truly shocking results on pollution levels in the river we row on. Here are the actual results: Nitrates - 25mg/L (acceptable 0.01-3) all chemistry at ‘environmentally damaging levels’. Noro virus- up to 39,562gc/L - any concentrations higher than 10gc/L means you can get the virus from the water. Enterovirus - very high E.Coli - very high; enough to damage human health Crass phage - 36,000gc/L (acceptable 10gv/L) ‘levels like this are found in undiluted effluent; not a diluted river.’ Conclusions - the pollution comes from human waste, this is a death potion for the river, and would lead to the death of the entire riparian ecosystem.Samples from the Thames downstream of Little Marlow treatment works; analysed by Bangor University waste water research centre, and Bangor uni Wetlands Group, With thanks Dr Christian Dunn, diolch yn dda iawn Prof Davey Jones

Saving One Life at a Time Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, accounting for 7 percent of all injury-related deaths. The pain of losing a loved one and forever feeling we could have done better is enough to start a war with ourselves and keep the fight against drowning real. Last year, there were 101 accidental drowning deaths in the province according to The BC Coroners Service. These tragedies occurred most often in the summer, with 18 drowning deaths in July 2023.
