The August 2024 Infection Control in Practice (ICIP) begins a two-part series on dental workplace safety hazards. Emphasized here are three types of hazard exposures inherent in dental settings: X-rays, nitrous oxide gases during sedation dentistry, and noise levels from dental devices. Strategies are presented to help employers and employees assess, monitor, communicate, and reduce exposure risks, supported by a workplace scenario with compelling reasons to monitor hazard exposures. Each #ICIP is free to ADS members or $20.00 to non-members and is worth 1 CE credit. Visit https://lnkd.in/eV83Gg7p to learn more.

In crafting this infection control guidebook for my colleagues, I've gone beyond simply outlining guidance for each CDC category and establishing Standard Operating Procedures. I've also included numerous illustrations designed to be utilized in your office. Recognizing that everyone absorbs information differently, these visuals serve as an effective means of swiftly communicating protocols within your practice. Take a look at my Guidebook and feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Check it out LevelUpIP.com #dentalhygienist #dentalassistant #dentaloffice #dentalofficemanager #dentistry

Waterline infection control is an important component of dental care to patients, however new research conducted by the American Dental Association Science & Research Institute (now the ADA Forsyth Institute) indicates dental team members would benefit from additional education around waterline disinfection procedures, according to a study released in the June issue of The Journal of the American Dental Association. HuFriedyGroup funded this study which assessed dental offices’ current infection control protocols by surveying those who directly manage or supervise maintenance for dental unit waterlines. Survey data published in JADA this month shows dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants had a lack of clarity about dental unit waterline infection control best practices. https://lnkd.in/gxv_XPVD #JADAJournals Rashad Vinh Kristy L. Boost infection control at your practice with these clever design choices! For your surfaces, go for easy-to-clean, solid surface materials such as Corian or Hanex. These not only look great, but they also prevent bacterial buildup. Set up designated areas for cleaning and disinfecting instruments, equipment, and surfaces. They should be easily accessible, equipped with all necessary cleaning supplies and not used for any other purpose. Invest in top-of-the-line sterilisation systems to effectively clean dental instruments and minimise cross-contamination. We recommend the W&H, Newmed and Midmark Dentisure sterilisers. Looking to redesign your practice for optimal infection control? We can help! The October 2024 Infection Control in Practice (ICIP) centers on eye and respiratory safety during dental laser treatments and concludes a two-part series on dental workplace safety. A workplace scenario demonstrates how a dentist's eagerness to adopt laser technology overshadows team training and jeopardizes safety protocols. The incident resulted in an action plan protocol of critical safety measures for every laser treatment, protecting professionals and patients. Emphasis is on laser safety communication through training, labeling, checklists, and signage. Practical charts clarify the four requirements to manage class IV laser risks. Each #ICIP is free to ADS members or $20.00 to non-members and is worth 1 CE credit. Learn more at https://ow.ly/L96R50TMICI.
