Friday, July 19, when the CrowdStrike update caused Windows outages worldwide, is now written in history. With 8.5 million Windows devices impacted globally it's hard to imagine the pressure IT teams faced. Yet, it’s amazing how swift and efficient actions of some of them restored their critical systems quickly. They definitely had a good plan on how to act in such situations. This incident proves that investing in IT prevention and impact mitigation is wise. It's cheaper and more effective to fix problems you prepared for than those you didn't. Support IT teams and prioritize preventative measures for a stable digital world. PS: Have you tried the Microsoft’s Recovery Tool? https://lnkd.in/dKuf5P-V

UPDATE - PXE remediation action has been added. For most customers, the other recovery options will help restore your devices. However, if devices are unable to use the option to recover from USB, for example, because of security policies or port availability, IT admins can use PXE to remediate. To use this solution, you can use the Windows Imaging Format (WIM) image that the Microsoft recovery tool creates in an existing PXE environment. The affected devices need to be on the same network subnet as the existing PXE server. Alternatively, you can use the PXE server approach outlined in the blog. This option works best when you can easily move the PXE server from subnet to subnet for remediation purposes.
As a follow-up to the #CrowdStrike Falcon agent issue impacting Windows clients and servers, we have released a USB tool to help IT Admins expedite the repair process. Please note this tool does not use Microsoft Intune, but we're sharing as a Support tip to help customers. For instructions on how to use it, please check out the following blog https://lnkd.in/e4haKmHY

CrowdStrike shitstorm. The only way for now is to restart the servers one by one, remove CrowdStrike and then run it. Apparently, systems with encrypted drives (most corporate laptops these days) are especially problematic to fix. https://lnkd.in/dud4KRRe
