After successfully completing one of Europe’s heaviest rail transports our 460 ton GIGATOP generator for Hinkley Point C (UK), was loaded onto a Rhine barge at Strasbourg. The barge took the stator to Rotterdam where one of the harbour’s most powerful cranes, the ‘Matador 3’, lifted it onto the 10 axles SPMT. Large and complex transports like this are true team efforts, requiring detailed advanced planning. Many thanks to our factory, rail, port and transport & logistics teams and partners for ensuring a smooth journey so far. We can’t wait to see the generator taking the next leg towards Hinkley Point C.

Having attended the first criticity led by EDF and Framatome at Flamanville 3 EPR last week, we were impressed by the dedication, professionalism and safety focus of the team.   With our partners we are now getting ready for the next step in the commissioning program. Before the end of the autumn, we will start synchronizing our Arabelle turbine and 1680MW Gigatop 4 generator to the grid. With a length of 70 meters they will constitute one of the largest turbine hall shaftlines in operation.   Ahead of the next milestone we are maintaining the turbine hall, including its vertical moisture separator reheaters, low and high-pressure heat exchangers, circulating water flow pumps and more, as fully operational. #Teamwork

Thank you Paris for hosting a such great Olympics! And well done to our colleague, Gilles De Saint Esteban from Belfort, who finished the Paris 2024 ‘Pour Tous’ Marathon on Saturday night in an impressive 3hs 45min. The ‘marathon for all' followed the iconic Olympic marathon route, passing the Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Chateau de Versailles, Eiffel tower and more Paris landmarks.  We saw so many great sporting achievements over the last two weeks and look forward to seeing more amazing athletes at the Paralympics later this month.

Construction work of the turbine hall at Hinkley Point C - Unit 1 – is progressing nicely. The 50 metre tall turbine hall will house the world’s largest Arabelle steam turbine, plus generators, pumps, heat exchangers and more. The Arabelle turbine and generator are as long as a Boeing 747 and capable of producing 1,770 MW each. Together they will produce enough electricity for 6 million homes. We can’t wait to see the Arabelle installed. #TEAMHPC

This GIGATOP TA1900 generator has left our Belfort factory destined for Hinkley Point C, the UK’s new generation nuclear power plant, where it will help deliver low-carbon electricity for some 6 million households. After years of design and build, the generator underwent rigorous running tests and with 2000 MVA is the most powerful generator ever manufactured at our Belfort factory. We can’t wait to see it being installed in the Hinkley Point C turbine hall. #TeamArabelleSolutions"
