Read 👀 @Thania Paffenholz sharing recent lessons learned in Ethiopia’s national dialogue 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 where she touches upon the inclusion challenge “Getting inclusion right is at the heart of broad-based dialogue processes. However, there is often big confusion around inclusion centered around misunderstandings of the goals and strategies of inclusion. Is inclusion seen as representation, as a process, or as an outcome? The simple answer is, that it is all of this, but different strategies and procedures need to be applied for each of these goals.” #inclusion #nationaldialogues #inclusivepeace #Ethiopia https://lnkd.in/e_kgUaky

Head Of Human Resources at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Nigeria
Excited to be a panelist at the upcoming 4-hour hybrid event organized by the GIZ Diversity Secretariat in honor of the World Day on Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development! Theme: Cultural diversity: let's dialogue, let's be inclusive! This event promises to be a vibrant platform for: 1. Discussing how we can effectively navigate the daily challenges and opportunities presented by working in a multicultural environment. 2. Reaffirming GIZ's unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion within our organization. 3. Learning from esteemed external guests representing organizations like USAID, NESG, NCPWD, Avocats Sans Frontières, British Council, TAF Africa, and UN Women. Cultural diversity is the beautiful tapestry woven from the unique customs, traditions, and perspectives of people from various backgrounds. It encompasses differences in language, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and even generations. This rich blend fosters creativity, innovation, and a deeper understanding of the world. However, navigating cultural differences in the workplace can sometimes present challenges. By promoting open communication, celebrating individual cultures, and fostering a sense of belonging, organizations can leverage diversity to create a truly inclusive and thriving environment. Looking forward to engaging discussions! #Diversity #Inclusion #CrossCulturalCommunication #GIZ

As evidenced by the dynamics of the presidential election, women continue to be held to a different, much stricter standard than men. In my book "WOKE: A Cultural Competence Guide for Communicators, I delve into why and how women continue to struggle for equality and representation. "Women’s quest for equality is the longest-running struggle in the history of the world. Men have ruled over humanity for millennia, and nowhere has their dominance been more pronounced than over the lives and bodies of women. Although women have made great strides toward equality in the last few decades, they continue to be held to a different standard than men, and society holds many unconscious and deeply rooted biases against them. Nevertheless, women continue challenging traditional gender norms, advocating for equal rights, and reshaping female empowerment narratives." https://lnkd.in/gsTAMAbc

I mean -all the DEI professionals including myself, must be thrilled and proud beyond words today. This is -one of the very biggest milestones and the paradigm shift of industry and in history of our country, whose gender gap ranking is notoriously known as 125th out of 146 countries worldwide. Going forward, we are all challenged with a big question -would we just witness and celebrate this as a #miracle, or leverage this as a #milestone and a #momentum to empower further with each and every one of our actions…? I hereby declare -challenge accepted! #BreakTheBias #InspireInclusion #ImpactThatMatters #WeAreInThisTogether

Join us in celebrating International Women’s Day as we share Delfina’s insights on overcoming workplace challenges. “Our role in the professional world is undoubtedly demanding, however, the barriers we face today give us the opportunity to blaze trails for generations to come. As women, our challenges are different and require a distinct approach - not one of excuses or camouflages, but of meeting obstacles with humility and wisdom. After all, reality is more painful for those who have the mission of ‘paving the way’. I don’t have a lot of strategies, but what has truly helped me is my support system. I’m blessed with management that supports hard work and dedication. Determination drives me forward, and I work tirelessly to achieve my goals. Balancing work and family isn’t easy, but my support system makes it possible. Finding that equilibrium in life is key to reaching professional milestones. Remaining humble and embracing continuous learning have been my guiding lights. Each obstacle presents an opportunity for growth, and I seize it with enthusiasm.” Let’s celebrate the resilience of our Ascending Women who inspire us all! #ascending #womensday #supportsystem #breakingbarriers #toolsforsuccess #workplacechallenges
