Ghasha will produce sour gas, convert it into saleable #naturalgas and the sanctioned project is reported as designed to operate with net zero CO2 emissions.  Why sell 60% of the original 25% participating interest shortly after FID? To monetise a capital gain or rather because of assumptions on risk profile, CAPEX and time to first gas which have proved to be optimistic?

#Aramco to acquire 50% stake in #Air Products Qudra’s Blue #Hydrogen Gases #Saudi Aramco signed definitive agreements to acquire an equity interest in the# Jubail-based #Blue Hydrogen Industrial Gases Co. (BHIG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Products Qudra (APQ).   The transaction, which is subject to standard closing conditions, will also include options for Aramco to offtake hydrogen and nitrogen, the oil giant said in an emailed statement to Argaam today, July 16.   Building on its efforts to develop a lower-carbon hydrogen business and expand its portfolio of alternative energy solutions, Aramco expects its investment in BHIG will contribute to the development of a lower-carbon hydrogen network in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, serving both domestic and regional customers.   Upon completion of the transaction, Aramco and APQ, a joint venture between Air Products and Qudra #Energy, are expected to each own a 50% stake in BHIG.   BHIG, which is designed to produce lower-carbon hydrogen while capturing and storing CO2, is intended to commence commercial operations in coordination with Aramco’s carbon capture and storage activities.

The United Arab Emirates' state-owned oil company, ADNOC Group, recently considered acquiring Britain's bp in a potential takeover deal. ADNOC Group's aspirations for global expansion amidst the UAE's energy transition strategy led to discussions with bp, which ultimately did not progress beyond preliminary talks. This move highlights bp's vulnerability as investors scrutinize its plans, despite reporting profits of $13.8 billion last year. ADNOC Group's pursuit of international investments in renewable energy, gas, and petrochemicals underscores its focus on future growth markets. Although no formal offer was made, the discussions reflect ongoing consolidation within the oil and gas industry and the evolving dynamics of global energy markets. Notably, bp's UK shares rose by as much as 2.5% in early trade, reaching 533.9 pence per share, their highest level since October. ADNOC Group's interest in bp also signals a broader trend of international investment in the European oil and gas sector, which remains undervalued compared to its American counterparts. The Emirati giant has been actively pursuing European assets, with recent deals including a non-binding bid of about 11.3 billion euros ($12.1 billion) for German plastics and chemicals maker Covestro, and the acquisition of European chemical producer OCI Global's stake in ammonia and urea producer Fertiglobe for $3.6 billion.

Existing petrochemical refinery infrastructure could be repurposed to manufacture clean e-fuels derived from hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide. The finding is one outcome from a suite of projects undertaken by the FLEET consortium, a multipartner collaborative research program initiated by KAUST and the Oil Sustainability Program of the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia to reduce the transportation sector’s carbon footprint. #EnergyNews Petrobras announces a $5.2 billion (R$ 25.5 billion) investment in wind and solar energy over the next 5 years as part of its 2024-2028 strategic plan. This amount represents half of the $11.5 billion (R$ 56.4 billion) allocated to low-carbon projects. Including initiatives for decarbonization and new ventures such as bio-refining, wind, solar, carbon capture and storage (CCUS), and hydrogen, Petrobras aims to reach 16% investment in low-carbon by 2028. Additionally, the company has set ambitious decarbonization targets, aiming to neutralize emissions by 2050 and reduce total operational emissions by 30% by 2030. Shell’s Cansolv CO2 Capture System technology has been selected for the ADNOC Habshan carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) project with the capacity to capture and permanently store 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2). It is one of the largest post-combustion carbon capture projects today and amongst few that have taken final investment decision globally.
