Actuaries are not often sought after for their people management skills or charismatic leadership abilities. Yet today more and more actuaries find themselves in managerial and leadership roles. I am excited to present at the upcoming Northern New England Actuaries Club meeting on the challenges that actuaries face in management and leadership positions. In addition to drawing from personal experience and the advice of my peers and mentors, I will also touch on principles of modern management including decision making under uncertainty, Peter Drucker's tenets of management, James Surowiecki’s notions of decision making as a group, and Susan Cain’s excellent advice on introverts in management roles. https://lnkd.in/ew_BPpme
