This is going to be a bit of a long post and I'm sure it will be met with some negative feedback, but here goes. So often on this platform, I read post from former broadcasters, about "freeing themselves" from the shackles of a business that no longer cares for its communities and eats its young. They advocate for others to join them and finally have a "life you can call your own". Yes; I know. The industry is not what it was when many of us made the decision to join its ranks. And I know as well as anyone the toll the hours, demands and unpredictability of the business can take on your family. Shout out to my husband of 33+ years and two adult children that know no other life with me. But here's the thing, the problem may not be the industry but the people you surround yourself with. Because last week, was one of the most rewarding of my career as a local broadcaster, because I am surrounded by the right people, who are committed to the core values of this calling. What WXII 12 Triad CW did in conjunction with our community partners at Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC and the #RedCross to support our neighbors in Western North Carolina is why we should *all* want to be local broadcasters. Our license calls on us to serve in the best interest of our communities. And I am so proud of how we not only served but led the relief efforts here in the Piedmont-Triad. And it's why you have to ask yourself is it the industry or perhaps the people I work for and with? Finally, if you have it in your hearts and wallets to give, please do. It is a critical time to address the impact of high heat on individuals, families and communities across the state, particularly for those struggling financially to address and adapt to the record-breaking temperatures. Wildfire is here to help. Governor Hobbs' order also directed state agencies to develop a comprehensive heat plan by March 2024 and advocate for more federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding. As a community action agency that connects low-income households with resources, Wildfire will do everything we can to support Governor Hobbs bringing more LIHEAP money into the state. "The program was initially designed to help cold-weather communities keep residents heated in the winter, but it has evolved to become an important resource for air conditioning assistance in hot summers, said Wildfire Executive Director, Kelly McGowan. Wildfire will match community donations up to $500,000 in donations to repair and replace HVAC units for qualifying low-income individuals at no cost to them -- bringing the total raise to $1,000,000. The more we are able to raise in donations, the greater the impact we can make. I just realize.... For a society to prosper it requires more learn new habits and stop imitating the bad ones that we see every day on videos in our phones. - We pay charities for problems unsolved - We choose wrong leaders to end up been screwed - We take choices we regret, so we repeated once more tomorrow - We judge other or disrespect them, without seen ourselves first or walking in their shoes. - etc We repeat cycles that could be stopped such as (Success Rates, Discrimination, Massive murders, killing, etc.) #wrongturnsrightturns #lifelessons #trusttheprocess

What many government leaders don’t realize is that if they fail to do their job diligently, real people suffer the consequences - which is why so many of them have fallen short.  This is completely unacceptable because a lack of hard work will cause a LOT of damage, and much of that damage is irreversible.
