Medicare cuts hurt worse when Medicare "Replacement" contracts don't even pay full Medicare rates. If your contract gives you 95% of Medicare, then with these cuts many practices will lose even more. Medicare considers one PT billing unit of service to be 15 min. They allow for the possibility of gaining an extra unit of billing in a case where the number of minutes of 2 or more interventions is beyond 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, etc.

Medicare Advantage plans put a cap on out-of-pocket costs UNLIKE traditional Medicare. With traditional Medicare, there's no out-of-pocket limit.

The increase is 4% and not 45% that's misleading Band 1 will increase from £25.80 to £26.80. Band 2 will go up from £70.70 to £73.80, and band 3 will increase from £306.80 to £19.10. In general NHS prices are still substantially less than the equivalent private procedures and in spite of these increases there will be no let up in demand for NHS dentistry.

This may tick a few people off, but it's super important to understand. Especially my business owner/HR/Employee Benefit Broker friends... While moving a person off of the company plan and onto Medicare will save the company money... if your company has 20 or more employees, you cannot incentivize, force, or encourage them to move to Medicare. You can educate. And, in some instances, Medicare provides stronger coverage for less than the company plan, but too often we hear from people who say their HR manager told them they HAD to take Medicare at 65 or they would be penalized and kicked off the company plan.
