Through our work with ARK Immersive, International Gas Detectors Ltd and Trafford College, we have developed a series of digital assets that will be used in Trafford College’s Computer Augmented Virtual Environments (CAVES). The CAVES use 3D images that are projected onto walls, ceiling and floors to simulate a virtual world. Movements by the students, using their head and hands, are tracked to allow them to interact with virtual real-world scenarios. Using funds from the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF), Trafford College will use these assets in their apprenticeships and courses to teach delegates about the importance of working safely and confidently with Hydrogen. During my first year as Strength and Conditioning Coach at Colby College. I had the opportunity to be exposed to Force Plates technology as an aid to understanding the performance of my teams during their season. My first experience with this type of technology was during my undergraduate internship at L'Universite de Franche-Comte in France, however, my experience was assisting on the application more than the same interpretation of the data. This year, after exhaustive research on which metrics I should use to have a better picture to understand the readiness and fatigue of my teams. I just learned that I scratched the surface of this technology. The process of understanding all the perks that Hawking Dynamic provides on their cloud to analyze efficiently the information takes time due to the lack of experience. With trial and error observing which metrics I should use. I took one big learning and from there I plan to start next season. The standardization of the technique can help to observe significant changes in the metrics. This will allow the coaching staff to make better decisions and increase the athlete's participation in games, practices, and lifts. I am still in the pursuit of learning and understanding better how to use all the alternatives these plates can provide to my programming and decision-making. therefore, if any of you coaches or sports scientists who are reading this small post. I am open to having a conversation that will help me to learn more and expand my knowledge, which will help my athletes achieve their goals and keep them on the field. Training Week 🙌🏽 This week, I am carrying out an advanced training initiative within our team. The focus is on providing further training opportunities. We're incorporating in-house training sessions to enhance our skills and knowledge. One exciting opportunity is the chance to enrol in the Multi NDT Lavender Apprenticeship program. Week 6/8 of TGA Specialization Projects: Procedural Caves w. Marching Cubes : Part 1/2 As the project itself has reached its end and with the remaining two weeks allocated to creating my Website and polishing my Resumé, I won't be posting much more visual progress. I have however had a bit of fun to demonstrate the Procedural Cave system, by adding Infinite Generation and Mesh Destruction! Mesh destruction is a bit buggy, with the actual destruction being offset from the impact point, and the infinite generation is a tad bit slow, which seems to stem from Unreal's Procedural Mesh Component (as I've threaded as much as I can). Nonetheless these extra things bring me joy and ties the tool into the more Gameplay side of things. Below you'll find a video of me walking around in a terrain generated by the infinite terrain tool, and I'll be making a 2nd post showcasing how the Terrain destruction looks like for now.
