A historic air raid shelter in St Pauli, #Germany has been revitalized with the introduction of a hotel and a rooftop green park. This site, known as the Hamburg Bunker, established in 1942 by forced laborers, was originally constructed as emergency housing. Its primary purpose at the time was to provide air defense during World War II. Today it transformed into a hub for media and music creativity. It even houses a nightclub! This redevelopment marks a bold reimagining of the structure. The organization behind it aims to preserve the bunker’s history by documenting local experiences and creating informational displays for visitors (currently available only in German). A flawless urban design. If the respective mode streams don't justify the segregation then the idea comes a cropper. Optimal utilisation of scarce urban space is also sine quo non of sustainability, I suppose.

The Titlis Glacier Cave is a magical, icy attraction located near the summit of Mount Titlis in Engelberg, Switzerland. This natural wonder is a frozen tunnel beneath the glacier, offering visitors an unforgettable experience. Here’s what makes it special: Key Features 1. Ethereal Ice Tunnels: The cave stretches about 150 meters long and is embedded deep within the glacier. Its walls are made of ice that’s estimated to be over 5,000 years old. 2. 🎥 "Start a good story in the middle of the action" my good friend Laslo Seyda once told me. I will give it a try. It’s day 7 of our Greenland expedition, and the temperature hovers in the low negatives. This morning? Comfortable -21°C 🥶 Back in Hamburg, a 6 a.m. wake-up call would feel impossible, but here in the Arctic, I’ve turned into a lark. Our day begins with familiar rituals: melting snow for water, sipping a quick coffee, and fueling up on porridge enriched with a hefty quarter-pound of butter. By 9 a.m., we’re off - 10 hours of cross-country skiing through an endless ice desert with a 100 kg sled pulling behind 🥵 The journey is exhausting, but we break it into manageable legs: 50 minutes of trekking, 10 minutes to rest and refuel. In the Arctic, the body burns immense energy just to stay warm. Add a marathon-like effort pulling weight, and you’re looking at 8,000 calories a day. Those 10-minute breaks are sacred. This morning, though, something broke the monotony. In the middle of an endless white desert, my eyes were drawn upward. A massive ring appeared around the sun - a halo* ❄️ 🌈 At that moment, I felt an incredible mix of joy and exhilaration**. Suddenly, my energy was completely restored, I sprinted 500 meters away from the group to perfectly frame the team beneath the sun. Just like a rainbow, halos can vanish in seconds. I wasn’t going to miss my chance. Have you ever seen a halo? Where were you, and what did it make you feel❓ *Halos are atmospheric light effects caused by sunlight refracting through ice crystals in high-altitude clouds like cirrus or cirrostratus.
