Check out my most recent story with U.S. News & World Report where I delve into the doctor shortage in America and how it impacts medical schools across the country. Are you looking to go to medical school? Are you concerned about the physician shortage and how it will play into your education? Maybe the physician shortage is the reason you're going to medical school in the first place. #usnews #journalism #medschool #doctors #healthcare #medicalcommunity

One could argue that the medical education system is the cornerstone of healthcare and patient care. Through the education and certification protocols, medical schools mold the providers that play a critical role in nearly every aspect of patient care. However, this system has been critiqued for its rigor and difficulty, with some sources tracing back high rates of physician burnout to the design of the medical school system. Really appreciate this perspective. Medical schools have massive opportunity to evolve their curricula and prep. Those schools that also share in governing large post-graduate medical education environments can make this continuous, iterative, and stepwise which may yield the smoothest transition into next-generation practice and some restoration of joy, 21st century practice competence combined with exceptional clinical knowledge, and an understanding of how to contribute to further to general healthcare environment. #medicalschool #medicaleducation #medicalpractice #healthcare #healthcaresystem

How can medical schools boost social accountability through community connections? Medical schools must align their teaching, research, and services to societal needs. These should include include: ⚕ Establishing feedback channels for students to reflect on community barriers. ⚕ Supporting student-led health initiatives. ⚕ Valuing community-based research in faculty assessments. A central database of community partnerships fosters deeper, lasting connections, enhancing public trust and addressing health inequities. By adopting these practices, medical schools can better serve their communities and build a more responsive healthcare system. https://lnkd.in/gqcSpBW9 #MedicalEducation #CommunityEngagement #SocialAccountability #PublicHealth #HealthcareInnovation #medschool #canada #education

Happy to share that my blog on the need for Anti-Racism education in medical schools featured in The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) website! Racism in healthcare is a critical issue that undermines the quality of care and perpetuates healthcare disparities. By integrating anti-racism training into medical education, we can empower future physicians to recognize and combat bias, ensuring equitable treatment for all patients. https://lnkd.in/gHPSNhRE
