I could moderate an inspiring AWS Roundtable at #worldhealthsummit2024 about unlocking AI‘s potential in healthcare and the role of public private partnerships. 45 Thought leaders and top Health Experts from 5 continents, 16 different countries joint the roundtable and we have had a lively discussion. Max Peterson AWS VP of Sovereign Cloud did the welcome keynote and talked about the needs in global health regarding better affordable and resilient health systems, health equity, inclusion, patient safety and the role of a reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure through the Cloud as the foundation for the digital transformation. César Pascual Fernández Minister of Cantabrian Health system shared the challenges of a health region in a rural area and how the region is using AI and Cloud to overcome those obstacles. He highlighted the need to setup an innovation culture, accelerate through implementation of a Cloud first policy and also the need to implement a liberal regulation as an authentic declaration of intentions of open government and the possibility that civil society can give. CEO of Genomics England, Dr Richard Scott inspired with his keynote about genomics in healthcare. Spoke about the need of a valuable data platform to find new insights to fight against cancer, and to build a mechanism to turn research findings back to the care delivery process what create the real impact. He highlighted a couple of projects like the newborn screening. All speakers stressed public-private partnerships are key to impactful AI in healthcare delivery and research - #teamsport. Special Thanks to Dr Ai Lin Tan, Catherine Rivera, Jay Rajda, MD, MBA Myriam Fernández Martín, PhD, MSN, RN, David Warke, Katie Bertram, Annie Bricker to help to organize all of this. #WHS2024 #AI #GenAI #Cloud #AWS

Generative AI is revolutionary to healthcare bringing many positive impacts such as improved health care access, improved quality of care and affordability to people. Generative AI has the ability to coherently summarise large medical data to an accurate brief summary and patient diagnosis. With the increase in workflow efficiency, the quality and safety of patient care are improved. AI can also serve as a predictive model to reduce the frequency and prevalence of chronic diseases so costs can be reduced. These are just some examples of the benefits that generative AI brings to healthcare, and I am also personally looking forward to the positive changes it can bring to employee benefits. You may watch the full interview featuring Hervé Balzano, President of Mercer H&B and Global Leader of MMB, and Dr William B. Weeks, Director, AI for Health at Microsoft here: The impact of AI: Microsoft’s insights on health and care (mercer.com)
