Steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) is increasingly used in construction due to its enhanced mechanical properties and durability. The approval of anchors in SFRC is critical for ensuring structural integrity under various load conditions. It is a nice overview on this topic from AST.

🌿 Zero Waste: Berlin reinforces it! 🌿 I firmly believe it is an excellent path to take. Berlin is making giant strides towards the circular economy, promoting the recycling of construction waste instead of throwing it away. Buildings represent large warehouses of raw materials, and the recycling of building materials such as gypsum allows not only to save natural resources but also to reduce costs and environmental impact. Each cubic meter of recycled gypsum replaces one cubic meter of natural gypsum, contributing to the protection of nature and the landscape. This initiative not only reduces waste, but promotes the sustainable use of resources, with separate collection and recycling requirements for all construction, renovation and demolition projects. From 2024, the new rules prohibit the disposal of non-polluting materials in landfill, further encouraging recycling. Earth Friendly Concrete (EFC) – The Time for Action is Now It’s not enough to just talk about Earth Friendly Concrete. The technology and expertise to reduce CO2 emissions and save our planet already exist. EFC is the future of construction, and we have the proof. In Germany, under the rigorous DIBT quality approval system, concrete pipe manufacturers are already using EFC in large-scale construction projects. I’ve personally led several plant trials with customers, all of whom are convinced by the concept. The results speak for themselves: EFC creates super durable, high-performance concrete. So, I ask the industry, governments, and society at large: 1. Why is demand for EFC moving so slowly? 2. Why aren’t governments prioritizing EFC production and supporting the industry with appropriate policies? 3. Why aren't construction companies embracing EFC, even on a small scale? 4. Why aren’t we seeing EFC offered as a solution in residential and commercial buildings? Yes, EFC might cost slightly more upfront, but with the proper allocation of carbon taxes from fossil fuels, it represents excellent value for its role in meeting carbon reduction targets. It's time to stop treating EFC as just another topic for seminars or academic discussions. We need real collaboration between governments, the construction industry, and environmental advocates to make EFC the standard, not a novelty. As Elvis said, a little less conversation, a little more action. Let’s turn this conversation into a movement. The future of our planet depends on it. At and before the steel summit, #IGMetall is fighting with allies for an industrial #electricity #price, green lead markets and fair international competition. "We have no time left. The German steel industry, our colleagues need solutions today and not perhaps in the next legislative period," calls out Jürgen Kerner, second chairman of IG Metall, to the approximately 2,000 #metalworkers in front of the Mercatorhalle in #Duisburg. The National Steel Summit will soon take place inside and Kerner will explain to #politicians and #business #leaders what is now needed to lead the steel industry into a #climate-friendly future and to secure the #transformation and tens of thousands of #jobs. Outside, the metal workers remind people of the current state of the steel industry: they have pulled an old wooden cart up to the steps ofthe main entrance to the Mercatorhalle, loaded with large cardboard cubes that symbolize unnecessary ballast. They say: "energy #prices are too high," "#investment backlog," "#steeldumping from #China," and "#overcapacity." The metal workers want to remind politicians of their task: "Together we must pull the cart out of the mud," is what one large banner says, and another says: "Time is of the essence." We are promoting Speira's approach for a truly functioning #circulareconomy to all stakeholders. At the Deutsche Rohstoffagentur (German Mineral Resources Agency) industry workshop, I recently discussed recycled content quotas - which we find superfluous and not expedient. Firstly, Speira strives to offer aluminium solutions with the highest possible recycled content, because this saves energy and CO2 and is exactly what customers want. And secondly - in times of tight scrap markets - we build on ‘closed loops’ with customers so that we can directly recycle their process scrap without any detours.
