Another guess the location that we've worked at, this one has so much interesting history to it, it was hard to decide on just three clues! 🤔 1. When it first opened in 1778, it was the first place to offer separate cells rather than communal living areas. 2. During the First World War the walls of the building was entrusted with Britain’s most treasured national possessions, the Domesday Book (of which this area features in) and the Crown Jewels. 3. It was home to over 50 public executions, with the spectacle it offered being so popular a railway station was built nearby to ferry in spectators. One of the biggest crowds was over 25,000 people coming to watch the death of the Lightfoot brothers, on April 13, 1840, for the crime of murdering Nevell Norway, a local merchant. The public’s demand for the execution was so great that 1,100 occupants of a train carriage watched the execution from the train, which had stopped on the railway line adjacent to the building.
