Architecture is about an idea, a space, a material, a ray of light. It's about going beyond our limits to create, to imagine. But it's also about living in this world. Here, now. With this music, this perfume. Architecture speaks this language... Or that one. And this one too. And sometimes it stops, is silent, and just listens to the beauty of the world. We believe that architecture stops where the eye stops. Which means building with trees, with mountains, with sea, with sand, with sky, with city lights. AW²'s architecture is characterised by the interweaving of scales. From an immense landscape to the most subtle detail of a piece of furniture, or a work of art. And also, by the mysterious synthesis of influences, cultures, materials that respond to each other across the world. It is this common language, this DNA, that we call Fusion Architecture. Deconstruction in architecture began long before the work of Jacques Derrida. Back in the 30s, rectangular spaces began to burst at the seams, or rather at the diagonals. ) But organic architects approached freedom of human expression most systematically. Every room contains potential that can be transferred from structures to people. It is enough to move away from the usual rectangular perception. This is often financially beneficial. This post is about how an open-minded attitude gives birth to new forms even in an ordinary environment. All you have to do is start asking questions: - Why is my desk like this? - What is the reason for this direction of the sofa? - What job does the space do? The example below illustrates how a box can be deconstructed and reassembled with a human focus. Some will be surprised by the similarity of the plan with the design of our office on Andreevsky in Kiev, but this time, this is not my project. ) And the similarity is due to the general approach. Bridging Past and Present: The Rise of Vernacular Architecture Modern architecture is shedding its sterile image and embracing a fascinating trend: the vernacular revival. This movement breathes new life into contemporary design by drawing inspiration from traditional, local building styles. Imagine modern structures incorporating elements like courtyards for natural ventilation, a hallmark of Mughal architecture in India, or overhanging eaves for sun protection, reminiscent of adobe homes in New Mexico. But it's not just about aesthetics. Vernacular revival is inherently sustainable. By utilizing readily available, local materials and responding to the specific climate, these buildings boast lower environmental impact and increased energy efficiency, perfectly aligning with the growing focus on green building practices. This revival goes beyond functionality. In a world of homogenization, vernacular architecture allows communities to retain their cultural identity. By referencing traditional forms, architects can design buildings that resonate with the local population, fostering a sense of place and belonging. For instance, reinterpreting the concept of courtyard houses in modern Indian homes creates a connection to the past while catering to contemporary living. The vernacular revival isn't about blind imitation. It's about learning from the wisdom of past generations and adapting it to create innovative structures. This movement redefines what it means to build for the future. It's modern with meaning, striking a perfect balance between respecting the past and meeting the needs of the present, all while promoting sustainability and cultural connection #VernacularRevival #SustainableArchitecture #BuildingWithMeaning #BuiltInBIM #BIM

Houses: image or essence? Here’s an interesting take on a timeless debate. In his introduction to the classic April 1990 issue of The Architectural Review, Peter Blundell Jones shares his thoughts on the state of British architecture in the late 20th century – laying much of the blame on a certain future monarch known for being staunchly anti-modernist. Blundell Jones also celebrates the house as a site of experimentation. He makes a compelling case for the importance and influence of private home design – something we at StudiO are very passionate about. “Although one-off private houses by architects constitute only a small fraction of new domestic building, they do provide an important opportunity for exploration and demonstration. It is here that ideas of domesticity can be recast, the importance of cultural memory tested, the value of tradition questioned.” What matters more: style or substance? How can we strike the perfect balance between old and new? Can a single home design change the wider architectural landscape? Questions like these are at the heart of what we do. So, should home design focus on image or essence? The debate rolls on. Meanwhile, the best architects will continue to fuse the two in the hope of creating spaces fit for a king… ⚫ Read the article: https://lnkd.in/eEz3RtBz #architecture #design #homedesign #modernarchitecture
