The visioning charrette included a diverse group of architects, landscape architects, planners, and policymakers who gathered to generate ideas for breathing new life into downtown Seattle. Something to share: An inspiring 2022 TED Talk by Thomas Heatherwick, and it feels more relevant than ever. His message? Create beautiful buildings, preserve the ones we already have, and make them meaningful – don’t destroy them. This approach contributes (mostly 😉) to CO2 reduction while delivering something valuable and inspiring. If you’re ever in Cape Town, don’t miss the Zeitz MOCAA (grain silos). To me, it’s the most stunning example of repurposed architecture I’ve ever seen – a true masterpiece of vision and reuse. And of course, there’s a clear link to #Planon here 😉. Next to achtitecture I also love the company I work for and my job. Managing real estate sustainably and efficiently requires the right tools and the right #ecosystem. 🌍 #architecturelover #planonrealestate #manageyourbuildings #sustainability #partnernetwork #ecosystem

I had the pleasure of writing for BE News recently, commenting on the post-pandemic trend for commercial tenants to push for shorter term leases incorporating options to renew - clear evidence that flexibility remains at the top of a savvy tenant’s wish-list. The idea of municipal architects in the UK generally conjures a particular era in our minds. The 1960s and 70s were a time of bold public building programmes. But, has the heyday of municipal architecture passed? Holly Lewis looks back to the future for TheMJ on her newest role as Town Architect for London Borough of Hackney where she is supporting the council’s existing in-house design teams in the delivery of an exciting range of programmes and projects. How can we re-invent the town/city architect role for the current local authority climate in 2024? 👀 https://lnkd.in/etV6R5sg #townarchitect #purpose #designchampion #London #Stadsarkitekter
