In 24 years of navigating the sales pitch landscape, I've encountered a myriad of requests, yet the world still manages to throw me a curveball now and then. Just this past weekend, I fielded a request that stirred up a familiar mix of intrigue and skepticism—one that I hadn't heard in quite some time. A budding photographer, brimming with enthusiasm but perhaps a tad overzealous, reached out seeking a seasoned retoucher for her interior shots. She earned a commendable point by coming via reference and demonstrating a proactive approach to networking. However, her lack of experience in architectural editing loomed as a significant drawback, casting a shadow over the negotiation table. When the subject of budget arose, she displayed a reluctance to divulge her financial parameters, opting instead to inquire about mine. It's a dance I've grown accustomed to, yet it never fails to bemuse me—the delicate art of budgetary cat-and-mouse. She confessed to having a modest budget, coupled with the promise of potential future projects that might align more favorably with my rates as if I'd lowball myself! In response, I drew an analogy likening our collaboration to that of a seasoned carpenter approached to fashion a set of chairs based on designs, with the caveat of receiving nominal compensation upfront in anticipation of grander projects down the line. It's a scenario that begs the question: which craftsman would readily embrace such terms? Reflecting on this exchange, I ponder the prevalence of such propositions in the creative industry. Do they evoke a resolute "no" from practitioners, or are there instances where compromise prevails? My strategy, honed over years of navigating these negotiations, typically leans towards setting clear boundaries while remaining open to dialogue. After all, every opportunity bears the potential for growth, provided it's approached with pragmatism and a keen eye for mutual benefit. So, I'm turning it over to you. We created two videos for this stunning property and a set of architectural-style photos.  This project didn’t come without its challenges. We had a very short space of time to film and photograph this property. The builders were doing the final bits when we arrived, approx 4 hours later the new homeowners collected their keys (while we were still filming). We did the best we could with what we had and our clients, JS Construction were very happy with what we produced for them. We would love to edit more videos like this!
