Day 5 of my take-home challenge by Second Brain Labs ProjectOverview: The task is to answer user queries based on the content of uploaded PDFs using AI. Today was productive. After struggling with numerous errors over the past two days, I resolved nearly all of them today. Fixed the issue where pgvector was not compatible with TypeORM. 2. Resolved the conflict with the Helmet package in TypeORM. - Added a text-splitter function to divide the PDF text content for further use. - Integrated BullMQ queue for task management. Day 2 of my take-home challenge with Second Brain Labs: A rollercoaster of debugging! Project Overview: I'm working on a full-stack project that allows users to upload PDFs and ask questions, with AI providing insightful answers. Exciting stuff! Challenges Faced: 1. Sequelize and TypeScript Compatibility: Encountered issues with Sequelize and TypeScript, especially with vector embeddings. Switched to TypeORM after extensive research. 2. Helmet Errors: Yesterday, setting up Helmet went smoothly, but today it started throwing errors. After extensive online searches and consulting ChatGPT with no resolution, I reinstalled the entire project setup over five times. Eventually, I discovered that the error was linked to using TypeORM. I reached out to the Helmet package developer and was advised not to use Helmet with TypeORM. 3. Other Minor Errors: Various other small errors popped up, which I won't detail here. Github repo Link:- https://lnkd.in/g_eBNaPq Progress Made: - Set up the cross-env package. - Removed the Helmet package. - Switched from Sequelize to TypeORM. - Set up TypeORM migrations. - Created a registration router. 📢 The Mystery of the Missing Employee at Second Brain Labs 🔍 One evening, while scrolling through LinkedIn, I stumbled upon an intriguing post from Shubhan Kumar and Ayush Singh, the founders of Second Brain Labs. An important employee had mysteriously vanished, leaving a critical project unfinished. Intrigued and curious, I decided to investigate further. Despite my efforts, I couldn’t find any trace of the missing employee. 💡 That's when it hit me – maybe I was meant to fill this role. With my experience in software development, including building a Facebook clone and a microservice ecommerce site, I knew I could take on this challenge and complete the project. Here’s my extended plan: Step-by-Step Process: 1. Getting the PDF from the User - Frontend Users create a project by providing a Title, Description, and uploading a PDF file. - Backend: Upload the PDF to AWS S3 and save basic info (Title, Description, size, id, date) in Postgres. 2. User Login and Signup - Implement user authentication for secure access to the application. 3. Processing the PDF - Use BullMQ to process the PDF, extracting text using pdf-parse. - Save the extracted text in Postgres. 4. Handling User Questions - Receive questions from the user. - Send the question and extracted text to a Language Model API (LLM). - Save the question, response, userId, and other details in the DB. - Send the response back to the user. Future Implementations: -- Subscription-based Model -- 7-Day Trial -- Forgot/Reset password -- Email Verification -- Account Lockout: Lock user accounts after 5 failed login attempts. -- Limiting Questions for Non-Premium Users -- Enhanced Security Measures -- Integration of TypeScript and CI/CD This project excites me because it combines technology with practical application.
