EMOTION AS A FUNCTION OF DESIGN ❓What are the impacts of dull monotonous and soulless buildings on people’s #health and #wellbeing? ❓How can we design buildings, towns and cities that #connect better with people and respond to their needs? ❓How can we generate both #social and #commercial value in #development through a more human approach to building? These are just some of the questions we will be exploring at the Humanise Campaign’s second #research symposium tomorrow in #London. Featuring new research commissioned by the Humanise Campaign, we have a stellar line up of speakers who will share their expertise and knowledge: Thomas Heatherwick Sue Tibballs, OBE Kwajo Tweneboa Jonathan Wilson Richard Upton Prof Colin Ellard Cleo Valentine Dr Ian Hosking Prof Rebecca Madgin Saidul Haque Saeed Marc Cairns Katherine Sladden And we have a room full of #developers #architects #planners and #academics who will explore how to apply this insight to the development process to create buildings that are better for people and planet. Should be fun! Humanise.org Heatherwick studio #HumaniseCampaign #design #architecture #cities #housing #newtowns

Here is a little throwback image that we created a few years ago with Zoboki Design & Architecture. A modern hospital project with a sunny frosty winter mood that is a perfect representation on how slowly this year's spring is approaching us. 🤔 #architecturalvisualisation #architecturalconcept

"I am most often told, 'So, you're not a real architect, are you? I feel this question is fundamentally wrong on many levels. And let me tell you why. What is the role of architecture in our life? -A traditional understanding of an architect is someone who makes our homes, a person who designs shelters. Now, what is a shelter? A place where one can feel safe and belonged. Today, when we're creating safe spaces and experiences for people at Sensory ALL™ - isnt it what core architecture was all about at the first place? We've drifted into multifaceted fields, yet forgotten the timeless core of architecture: serving humanity's most basic and profound needs – connection, safety, and well-being. #Architect #Architecture #Design #WellBeing Debra Ruh | Puneet Singh Singhal I Jason Kliwinski, AIA, LEED Fellow, WELLap, BECxP, CSBA I Archontia Manolakelli I

🔍 Reflections on Our Participation in the Architectural Competition for a General Healthcare Facility in Pljevlja, Montenegro 🌄 💪🏻👌The Team: Hristijan Ivanovski, Frosina Stankovksa, Aleksandar Simjanoski In reminiscing about our profound experience in the architectural competition for a healthcare facility in Pljevlja, Montenegro, we found ourselves contemplating the intricate relationship between our environments and our well-being. Grounded in a commitment to values that prioritize health and healing, our design aimed to explore the transformative potential of architecture. The task at hand required us to draw inspiration from the rich legacy of local mountain architecture, particularly the works of renowned architect Bajo Mirković. His distinctive use of triangular forms and steep roofs has become emblematic of the region's identity. Our proposal retained these iconic elements, interweaving them into a contemporary narrative that honors the past while envisioning the future. The intent was to create a space that not only serves functional needs but envelops its occupants in an atmosphere of comfort and serenity, reflecting the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Pljevlja. Through this endeavor, we recognized the power of architecture as a catalyst for healing—not merely in terms of physical structures but as environments that enhance psychological and physical well-being. The insights gathered during this creative process have profoundly shaped our approach to design and continue to inform our perspectives on how spaces can influence health and community. As we move forward, we remain grateful for the collaborative spirit and shared vision that characterized this journey. Together, we aspire to create environments that resonate with the essence of place while nurturing the health and vitality of their inhabitants. Here’s to embracing new opportunities in architecture that advocate for healing and well-being! 🤝✨ Part 2/3 #ArchitecturalDesign #HealthArchitecture #CulturalHeritage #HealingSpaces #CommunityWellness

Celebrating World Architecture Day Today, we honour the profound relationship between architecture and humanity. As Louis Kahn once said, “Architecture is the reaching out for the truth.” Architecture impacts our experiences, affects our emotions, and links us to our communities. It acts as a setting for our lives, mirroring cultural values and ambitions while tackling critical issues like sustainability. Creative designs, including eco-friendly buildings and adaptive reuse initiatives, not only improve our surroundings but also encourage us to reconsider our lifestyles and work habits. As we celebrate this day, I’d love to hear from you: What’s your favourite architectural style or building, and how has it impacted your perspective on space and community? Let’s spark a conversation about the power of design in shaping our world! #WorldArchitectureDay #ArchitectureMatters #SustainableDesign #ArchitecturalInspiration #EcoFriendlyArchitecture #DesignForTheFuture #UrbanDesign #ArchitectureAndHumanity #AdaptiveReuse #CulturalArchitecture #DesignForImpact #ArchitecturalInnovation #PowerOfDesign #BuiltEnvironment #CreativeArchitecture
