Kudos to Monzo Bank for nailing their marketing and brand messaging once again! 🙌 Consistency is key for the brand, and their latest post is pure genius – 'ads' for the 'ads' that didn't make the cut. Using wit and humour, they've created something that resonates perfectly with their target audience (millennials and Gen Zs). Whether or not these 'rejected' ads are real, Monzo knows they'll make great memes, and have young professionals on LinkedIn share the punny post across the office or via DM. I've said this time and time again over the last couple of years, less really is more. This has everything: a touch of riskiness, high shareability, and plenty of laughs. No bells and whistles, just a great social team and a business that knows their audience. It's a masterclass in how to connect with your customers and get people smiling. My rejected startup idea: The "Apartment Therapy Goat Yoga Experience" Concept: Combine the trendy practice of goat yoga with apartment showings for a "stress-free" viewing experience. Rejection Reason: Turns out, not everyone appreciates the calming presence of a bleating goat while trying to visualise their dream couch. Even though Ad 2 looked better, it felt less authentic. Trust, authenticity, and first impressions are as important as your copy.

Does this count as long copy? By today’s standards, certainly. And who better to write it than the brilliant Tim Delaney. I originally looked at this ad in February last year and spotted a number of direct response ‘aspects’. And you can see a few of them in the pics below.
