#OpenEthos Spaces are canvases that tell the story of a life yet to be lived - a concept that takes centre stage in real estate developments, especially show flats. Show flats are not just demonstrations of design; they are thoughtfully curated visions of possibility. Every corner, every design detail whispers the promise of a home. How does one curate a space that reflects dreams taking shape? At Open Atelier Mumbai, our approach is guided by the need to create spaces that resonate with the soul of the user, transforming aspirations into tangible experiences. From the warmth of natural materials to the delicate interplay of textures and light, every carefully chosen element evokes a connection—an emotion that bridges a gap between the user and the space. By focusing on the nuances of modern living, we ensure that design embodies purpose, emotion, and timeless elegance. We had the privilege of participating in the Signages Competition organized by the Charles Correa Foundation (CCF) in Panjim. This competition challenged us to think beyond traditional signage design and reimagine how signage can enhance urban spaces in a meaningful way. Our approach to the design of signages wasn’t just about marking streets or storefronts but about creating an experience that uplifts the street. By integrating elements like greenery, solar-powered lighting, and shadow play—leveraging the direction of the sun—we aimed to create signages that go beyond functionality and become an integral part of the street’s atmosphere. The idea was to make the signage multi-functional, incorporating utilitarian elements such as seating or even dustbins that also serve as signages. Each piece was designed to not only inform but interact with pedestrians, bringing in cultural elements, and fostering an engaging environment. The angles and forms of the signages were carefully considered to correlate with the products or brands they represented, creating a unique, playful, and cohesive visual language. The result? A street that is not just lined with posters but transformed into an interactive and dynamic space, enhancing both the experience of those walking by and the branding opportunities for local businesses. We’re excited to continue exploring how design can transform everyday elements into experiences that benefit the community and create vibrant, welcoming streets. Polaris Studio: Blending Traditional Aesthetics with Modern #Functionality in Indian Homes Designing Indian homes is an art that goes beyond aesthetics—it's about weaving cultural heritage into the fabric of modern living. At Polaris Studio, we understand the significance of this balance and specialize in creating spaces that honor tradition while embracing cutting-edge functionality. In India, the home is more than just a structure; it’s a repository of stories, memories, and legacies. Incorporating traditional elements, such as intricately carved wooden panels, jali patterns, or earthy tones, resonates deeply with this sense of identity. However, today’s homeowners also seek practicality and convenience, whether it’s through open layouts, ergonomic furniture, or smart home integrations. How do we achieve this synergy? By ensuring every design decision marries form and function. One of our recent projects exemplifies this philosophy. We worked on a home where the family wanted to preserve their connection to their ancestral roots while embracing a more streamlined, contemporary aesthetic. To achieve this, we infused elements of traditional craftsmanship, such as custom brass light fixtures and hand-painted wall motifs, into a home equipped with minimalist cabinetry and a smart lighting system. The result was a seamless blend of past and present—a home that felt deeply personal yet met the demands of a modern lifestyle. Our process begins by understanding the homeowner's story, preferences, and aspirations. Using materials like reclaimed wood, natural stone, and eco-friendly paints, we create spaces that not only look stunning but are sustainable. This approach allows us to highlight India's rich design heritage while catering to the evolving needs of contemporary living. At Polaris Studio, we believe that homes should be both timeless and adaptable. By blending traditional aesthetics with modern functionality, we create environments where every detail—be it a jaali screen or a modular kitchen—enhances both beauty and usability. Curious about how we can transform your living space into a masterpiece of tradition and innovation? Let’s design a home that reflects your unique story. #PolarisStudio #IndianDesign #TraditionalMeetsModern #HomeTransformation #SustainableLiving #InteriorDesign

#OpenEthos For me, design is deeply personal—it’s about weaving stories through spaces that feel both timeless and functional. At Open Atelier Mumbai, we approach every project as an exploration of materials, light, and details to create spaces that inspire calmness and connection. Bathrooms, in particular, are personal sanctuaries - places where design should seamlessly blend functionality with luxury. I believe that spatial flow, intricate textures, and custom-crafted elements can transform even the most practical areas into elevated experiences. Thoughtfully curated lighting and natural finishes bring warmth and character, making the space feel grounded yet indulgent. This process isn’t just about building spaces - it’s about crafting emotions and celebrating details that stand the test of time. #CraftingSpaces #DesignWithPurpose #LuxuryInteriors #TimelessDesign #MaterialNarratives #ModernLiving #OpenAtelierMumbai

Harmony in design has come only with a calm and spiritual approach. Balance, in life as in design, rules my design philosophy - hence I am always hovering on the side of simplicity rather than chaos. It is in line with this philosophy that I avoid cluttering up spaces with too many materials. Instead, I try to achieve balance so that every element in the space makes sense without filling up the visual space. Places like Spiti Valley introduced me to a lifestyle that was so satisfied and simple. There was the Ahmedabad trip, which allowed me to be engulfed in local culture as well as architecture. My deep-rooted sense of connection with tradition and colors that Indian artisans tell me is really relatable. Such an excellent combination of modern elements and traditional aspects, like sculptures or intricate prints, makes the house very beautiful. India's vibrant culture inspires me to put these elements into my work and celebrate heritage, but living in the world today also means embracing all the contemporary designs. I feel that bringing them together creates a space not only aesthetically pleasing but emotionally enriching as well. #InteriorDesign #DesignProcess #CollaborativeDesign #ConceptualDesign #DesignExecution #ClientSatisfaction #DesignEthics

Check out this surrealistic monochromatic 2D interior design of a house in Jaipur! Using #dumbtech (pun intended, check my earlier posts with this hashtag) and #humane intervention, this home takes you to a different world of poetic surrealism. It's available on bnb, so you can experience it for yourself. #NoGenAI or smart tech can beat human creativity to bring in outwardly experience. Interestingly, this is the first time I observed an Indian adoption of the trend of painting spaces in a 2D anime sketch format that has been emerging worldwide for the past 6 years. #surreal #2D
