Port of Aberdeen aims to achieve net zero by 2040. To help accelerate the transition, Buro Happold, the Connected Places Catapult and Energy Systems Catapult have been supporting Port of Aberdeen by looking at how emissions can be addressed and innovative technology and processes embraced collectively. A number of future energy scenarios have been explored around the following considerations: - energy storage system - nature of the energy supply - availability of infrastructure for alternative fuel delivery - when net zero would be achieved However it is evident from studies undertaken thus far that the UK and global maritime sector can reduce its carbon footprint by adopting different decarbonisation methods. #IntegratedReport | In 2023, Ardian’s Infrastructure team set out a comprehensive vision of how to advance the energy transition through projects that address the circular economy and nature-based approaches to carbon capture. Last year we acquired Attero, a Dutch waste management and circular economy platform and launched Ardian’s first nature-based solutions fund that will invest in reforestation projects that will sequester carbon and generate high-quality carbon and biodiversity credits. Our transport strategy also signals our commitment to find climate solutions for sectors such as air travel that face the hardest abatement challenges. At the heart of our vision to decarbonize aviation is Ardian AirCarbon. In the Americas, our team completed land-mark deals in 2023 with the acquisition of leading Mexican telecommunications infrastructure company MXT Holdings and hydropower company Verlat Energy in Peru.
