Hybrid work is still in demand. I'm sure this is not a surprise to anyone. We are definitely seeing this continued push and pull between employees and employers as many employers want people back in the office and employees are resistant. They have seen a great deal of benefit from working from home and many are happy to accept a hybrid work arrangement. I think that what this demand really highlights is that employees are looking for flexibility. The younger generations are much better than us Gen Xers at saying that work life balance is an imperative. If employers are going to provide that opportunity they have to be willing to be flexible, allowing employees to adjust their work schedules to accommodate when life happens. To do this we need to move away from assessing productivity based on hours worked and where, and instead look to the output and achievements produced always expecting that the job be done at an acceptable level within the designated timelines. When and where they get this done should not be the driving force. Only that it is accomplished.

🏌♀️ 50% OK with pay cut if they can work from anywhere. 💸 Willingness to Accept Pay Cuts: Nearly half of workers are open to accepting a pay cut if it means they can work remotely from anywhere. 🔔 26% would be willing to take a 5% pay cut 🔔 24% would take a salary cut of 10% - 15% in exchange for location flexibility. 🧒 Generational Differences: Among different age groups, millennials showed the highest willingness to trade key job factors (such as salary, professional development, and working hours) for a remote job without location restrictions. 🧔 Only 31% of millennials would not give up anything for a work-from-anywhere job. 🧓 41% of Gen X and 50% of baby boomers. 🌴 75% of respondents would definitely use a work-from-anywhere policy if provided by their employer. 🗽 40% would consider relocating to a different city 🏕 41% would contemplate moving to a different state if given the chance to work remotely full-time without location requirements. 🏜 28% of respondents even expressed openness to relocating to a different country entirely The Judge Group Priyanka Singh Kazi Arif Zaman Maritza V.

46% of employees stated they would contemplate resigning from their positions than to return full-time, in-office work if their current employer were to eliminate remote work. In the discussion regarding return-to-office policies, women exhibit a marginal higher inclination (49%) to new employment opportunities compared to men (43%). Younger workers (under 50) demonstrate a significantly higher willingness to change jobs (50%) if remote work is eliminated compared to their older counterparts (35%). #WorkFromHome

Working from an office doesn't make sense. Yet many employers are forcing people back to offices. And they're abolishing any work-from-home perks because they somehow think you need to be seen to know you're doing your work. Employers that trust their employees don't care where they work from. If the work gets done, then that's all that matters. I heard the other day that my last employer's CEO has come down hard. He wants everyone working from the office with no exceptions. If anyone tries to get around his policy they will face instant dismissal. The reason for this decision is he wants to ensure all the offices they had refurbished are fully utilised. Nonsensical. My company operates remotely, yet I don't fully agree with this. I think the narrative being pushed that working from home is what employees want is incorrect. What do employees really want? The flexibility to choose their work style. If you ask anyone on the Bloom Social team what the best part of their job is, I can almost guarantee that they'll say something along the lines of in-person media collections with clients, team meetings at the Grand Rapids Chamber, or meeting up to brainstorm ideas over coffee. Both employers and employees not only enjoy, but benefit from face-to-face time. While remote work offers great flexibility, we can't forget the importance of human connection in our workplaces, especially in an era where every aspect of life is turning digital.
