Just back from trampolining with my daughter! 🤸♀️🎉 But why should you care? But here's the thing - every time we go, there's always that uncertainty of whether they'll let her in. 😔 The pressure and potential embarrassment of being turned away is not only hard for me, but it's especially heartbreaking for a teenager who simply wants to have fun like her peers. 💔 As a mum and a passionate physiotherapist, I believe in the power of making informed choices for our children's well-being. I can decide to buy a trampoline for my own garden, carefully assessing the risks and benefits. But sadly, my daughter doesn't have the same freedom. 😞 The British Gymnastics rule that restricts access for children like my daughter is based on shaky evidence and lacks the necessary flexibility to accommodate individual circumstances. 🚫📚 I understand that her risk level may be slightly higher than that of my sons, but her unique engagement and involvement in physical activities could actually make her a lower risk. 📈💪 So, let's talk about the real risks here. What is the cost of denying our children the opportunity to stay active and be included in exercise? 🏋️♀️🤸♂️ It's about time we prioritize clarity on the science and show empathy towards our kids!
