🔍 Living Science Mini Expedition Did you know that even our elementary students get to experience the excitement of a science expedition? Every spring, they participate in a Mini Expedition right here on campus! This hands-on adventure lets our younger learners explore nature, conduct experiments, and apply what they’ve learned in class—all while staying at school. It’s the perfect introduction to the world of scientific discovery and prepares them for future middle school expeditions. At Living Science, we believe in going beyond academic excellence by inspiring curiosity and real-world learning from the very beginning. #DiscoverLivingScience #HandsOnLearning #GoingBeyondAcademics

Science in the Subarctic Article by Jacqueline Monteith, Frontier School Division “We all have a relationship with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). This relationship builds as we explore the world around us through experiences, interests, and exposure to new ideas. Fostering these relationships is phenomenal. It is even more phenomenal when we consider the very real and lasting impact that we have on our young people through STEM-based experiences.” Read the link to learn more about teaching students in the outdoors through a local lens. https://lnkd.in/e7eJyq4P

Open Science news: 🧠 A Donders Institute team has received an NWO (Dutch Research Council) Open Science Grant for the 'Open Matrices' project. Rogier Kievit: "Fluid reasoning is the ability to figure out abstract, novel problems not reliant on specific knowledge. Individual differences in this ability are surprisingly predictive of outcomes such as school success, longevity, and socio-economic outcomes. However, the standard tests of this skill such as the Ravens Matrices and Cattell Culture Fair test are copyrighted and expensive, preventing access by less well-resourced countries, practitioners, and labs. With our Open Science project, we will develop, validate and make available an effectively unlimited set of matrix reasoning items to the global community." On Friday, #BritishScienceWeek began 🧪 Being a Life Science Recruitment Company we are proudly marking the occasion with a daily science quiz amongst our employees. It's safe to say, it's getting competitive. As well as having fun, it's also important to recognise what #BSW represents. British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of all things science, technology, engineering and maths. This year's theme is something Ricky Martin and the team are very passionate about: 'Smashing Stereotypes'. The ultimate goal of this year's theme is to "challenge long-standing stereotypes, with the aim of encouraging more young people, from all backgrounds, to see themselves as scientists". As science evolves, there are more and more opportunities to join the science industry. BSW will help to smash the stereotyping in science and encourage all young people, regardless of their backgrounds to embrace science. This will hopefully see an increase in promising young scientists working in a sector which impacts us all. Who knows, in years to come we could be placing a young science professional into work who was inspired by BSW. To find out more about British Science Week, read our latest blog below. 🔬 #ScienceWeek #Recruitment Ricky Martin David Powell FREC Ben Hamlin Ben Vicentuan Chris Amey FCCA Hayley Swords Eve Hegarty BSc MIRP CertRP Greg King CertRP
