CEO at Argyle - Pioneering Spatial Project Management - BIM & AR

Electrical Prefabrication with Argyle. We got these videos from the great team at Miller Electric Company. This use of AR is such a no brainer, but it flew right over my head until I saw it in action. TIP: Argyle assumes your model export is an upright building, so when you're exporting prefab models in the Revit plugin, make sure you orient the model appropriately. TIP: Use the prefab use case to resurrect your dusty Hololens 2. It ticks the boxes of its limitations: smaller model sizes, and indoor visibility. Then when you want to install the conduit and walk the full site--give your team a Magic Leap 2. #revitmep #fabshop #augmentedreality

It is cool for a quick comparision between the design and the product. But in order to use this for a detailed QC on measurements there are challenges to stage the product properly and then align/orient the model so it overlays accurately. It is so crucial because we are working with 1/8"-1/4" tolerances on the prefab racks. Interested to see future developments.

Bravo for pioneering this! The faster we can get AR dialed into 1/4” tolerance, the quicker we can throw tape measures away…

Would be great to how easy (or difficult) this is to use on a real site?

Let me know when you're ready to discuss/develop bringing the site ("backwards") to the shop -- beyond the expected/norm of bringing the BIM ("forward") to the shop and site :)

I think I see what the use case is, but could you describe it, too?

Plus, there are reduced requirements for a hardhat, depending on the fab shop scenario, which means the display device need not accommodate that restriction otherwise encountered on the job site!

What a great idea and application for AR technology!

Awesome stuff Maret Thatcher and Miller Electric Company, now do you consider this more as a Quality Assurance or Quantity Control measure?
