This day marks the anniversary of over 250,000 enslaved Black Americans in Galveston Bay, Texas being notified of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. Today and every day, we commemorate the freedom fought for and the equality we continue to strive for. Interested in learning more?
