I am so incredibly honored to have contributed to this paper with Rowan Beck, PhD, Erin Beck, Sam Pathak, and so many others showcasing the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Research Data Commons Cloud Resources, of which have been a part of for the past 2 and a half years. A direct quote from the announcement shared below, "In just ten years, the CRDC has proven itself as an important source to the broad cancer research community. This manuscript series in Cancer Research highlights how far we have come in a relatively short time, and points to the opportunities ahead as we continue to serve a foundational role in NCI's cancer data ecosystem." —Tanja Davidsen, Chief, CBIIT Data Ecosystems Branch I hope my network enjoys reading about the CRDC and utilizes the amazing data, tools, and community. #cancerresearch #bioinformatics https://lnkd.in/etJ-tFwG

Great to have Dr. Allie Grossmann as a member of the team and in the lab adjoining mine at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute & Providence Cancer Institute. From our early discussions I believe there are many opportunities for us to collaborate. On this #WorldCancerResearchDay It is more clear than ever that we all need to work togetther to #FinishCancer. This includes #academics, #biotechs, #pharma, #regulators, & #investors from #VCs & #FamilyOffices. #cancer #immunotherapy
It’s World Cancer Research Day and we are thrilled to highlight the newest member of our #FINISHCANCER research team, Allie Grossmann M.D., Ph.D.! With an impressive background and a wealth of experience, Dr. Grossmann joins us as an associate member of the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, the research arm of Providence Cancer Institute. Dr. Grossmann’s Cancer Signaling and Immunosuppressive Trafficking Laboratory will study tumor immunology from the tumor perspective, which can influence the effectiveness of cancer treatments and offer a fresh angle on cancer biology. We sat down to chat with Dr. Grossmann about her new lab, what inspired her to pursue a career in cancer research, and how she enjoys her downtime exploring the Pacific Northwest. Introducing our latest episode of Hope Through Cancer Research, featuring Dr. Marco Tagliamento, a Medical Oncologist and Assistant Professor at the Università degli Studi di Genova and IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino. Dr. Tagliamento specializes in thoracic cancers, with a focus on molecular medicine and the cutting-edge tool of liquid biopsy. This non-invasive method allows scientists to analyze tumor DNA released into the blood, providing new insights into cancer treatment. In his recent research, Dr. Tagliamento is investigating a phenomenon called clonal hematopoiesis, where specific DNA mutations in white blood cells could affect the immune system's response to cancer. His work could lead to more personalized therapies, particularly improving the effectiveness of immunotherapy for patients with solid tumors. Watch his full episode to learn more about his pioneering work in personalized cancer medicine and the future of cancer care. https://lnkd.in/d4WsDFQP #CancerResearch #Oncology #LiquidBiopsy #PersonalizedMedicine #ThoracicCancer #HopeThroughCancerResearch Ulysseus alliance: Universidad de Sevilla, Università degli Studi di Genova, Université Côte d'Azur, Technical University of Košice, MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Universität Münster & University of Montenegro

New Cancer Article! Prostate cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of men worldwide. Despite advancements in treatment options, aggressive forms of the disease, such as metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), remain a major challenge. However, a recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Centre has established a promising “proof-of-concept” for a new treatment approach that could revolutionize the field. The study, published in Clinical Cancer Research, demonstrated the remarkable effectiveness of this novel treatment in a mouse model of advanced prostate cancer. The researchers achieved complete tumour control and long-lasting survival without any side effects. These ground-breaking findings have paved the way for further investigation in human clinical trials……. Exciting News in microRNA Research! I’d like to share my enthusiasm about this year’s Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for their discovery of microRNA and its pivotal role in post-transcriptional gene regulation. This breakthrough, which has revolutionized our understanding of gene regulation, holds immense importance not only for basic science but also for clinical applications like cancer research. As the founder of the Childhood microRNA Cancer Catalog (M3Cs version 1 & 2), I have been deeply involved in exploring the role of microRNAs in childhood cancers. The catalog, recognized by the NIH as part of their Childhood Cancer Data Initiative (https://lnkd.in/ddPERXKq), serves as a resource for the scientific community working to understand how microRNA dysregulation contributes to childhood cancers. You can view the catalogs here: 💡 M3Cs v1: https://lnkd.in/dWxihKSr 💡 M3Cs v2: https://lnkd.in/dHw-7kTx This Nobel Prize underscores the growing importance of microRNAs in both foundational biology and translational research. I am thrilled to see this recognition, and I hope it inspires more groundbreaking work in this area, especially within the context of improving childhood cancer outcomes. May is National Cancer Research Month. Since 1999, after Harold “Hal” Eisenberg lost his life to liver and pancreatic cancers, the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation has honored his memory by funding breakthrough research to fight gastrointestinal (GI) cancers and increase survivorship. In partnership with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, the Eisenberg Foundation has supported critical efforts to move forward GI cancer research. More than 500 samples in the Harold E. Eisenberg GI Cancer Tissue Bank have been sequenced, and with these results, physicians and scientists will have both pathology and genomic characterizations of these colon cancer samples. Every cancer therapy starts as a question in a “basic” research laboratory. Despite the term, basic research is anything but; open-ended inquiry into the science of human health lays the very foundation on which the therapies and cures of the future are built. National Cancer Institute (NCI)’s National Cancer Plan – celebrating its one-year anniversary – brings together both basic research and applied care to make sure people with cancer get the very best of care. As the nation’s first NCI-designated basic cancer center, The Wistar Institute’s Ellen and Ronald Caplan Cancer Center brings together world-class researchers to do world-class science. To learn more about how Wistar Science is combating cancer with NCI’s help, visit our site at https://lnkd.in/epgCEQy5 President's Cancer Panel #nationalcancerplan #cancerresearch #biomedicalresearch #cancercenter
