Other feedback from Benson Hospital:
🏥Melanie Larson, site champion for the Arizona Transition to Practice Program at Benson Hospital, shared what has been done to customize the program for their facility. She said: “The key was providing the new graduates time to complete programmatic requirements. We have made the program training days a mandatory in-person day for our new grads and that has worked well. They come in twice a month for eight hours and complete programmatic requirements. We also have ‘lunch with leaders’ during these days so they can get to know the leadership. This has been key to our success.”
👩⚕️Velma Cooper, director of nursing, offered some additional insights into the successful implementation at Benson Hospital. She shared: “As a critical access hospital, having AzHHA’s support and the Arizona Transition to Practice Program has allowed us to train the new nurses we need to staff our hospital. The check-in meetings with AzHHA have been very helpful.”
