On this local election day many will be feeling unsure how to vote. Many feel it's pointless as there's no difference between the Conservatives and Labour. Others feel a vote for other parties would be a wasted vote. According to Electoral-reform.org 70% of voters, or 22 million people had no influence over the outcome of the 2019 election. Their votes went towards candidates that didn't get represented at all or they voted for candidates who already met the threshold to receive a seat. That's why we need Proportional Representation. Our democracy is crumbling around us. If you don't feel like your vote matters, take a few minutes to support electoral reform at https://lnkd.in/dyciri9j Reposting my blog on democracy and voting for more on this; https://lnkd.in/dSJyqG7t

Before you cast your vote, include in your consideration the candidate’s stance on health policy that impacts hospitals providing the best care for the patients in their communities. THA advocates for and has the following priorities for the Congress (2023-2024): 1. Prevent harmful funding cuts to hospitals. 2. Protect Texas’ rural hospitals. 3. Ensure continuation of critical delivery system flexibilities that originated during the pandemic, such as telemedicine and hospital-at home programs. 4. Align policies for and reimbursement from Medicare Advantage plans with those of traditional Medicare. 5. Streamline commercial health plan practices that cause administrative barriers for patient care, such as overly burdensome prior authorizations imposed by insurers. 6. Support recruitment and retention of the health care workforce. 7. Support Texas’ Medicaid 1115 Waiver, uncompensated care funding and directed payment programs. The waiver extension continues uncompensated care pool funding and provides a path for directed payment programs to help stabilize the state’s health care safety net. 8. Protect the health care safety net and make private health insurance more accessible. The Electoral College and the Popular Vote – How is the President Elected? In the U.S., the President and Vice President are elected by getting a majority of electoral college votes, they are not elected by popular vote. This means a President or Vice President can win a majority of individual votes on the national level, but still lose the state-based electoral vote, and thus lose the election.[1][2][3][4][5]
