🌧️ It’s Monsoon Awareness Week! The National Weather Service is partnering with DIFI, Arizona Dept. of Emergency & Military Affairs, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality ADEQ, Arizona Department of Health Services, Arizona Department of Transportation, and Arizona Department of Water Resources to promote severe weather preparedness. 🚨 #MonsoonAwarenessWeek is held annually to highlight the importance of being prepared for Arizona’s severe weather and flooding. Stay tuned this week as we take a deep dive into the potential hazards during the #monsoon, so that we can keep you informed on how to stay safe and ensure you have proper coverage. It’s not just about the rainfall! Unfortunately, there are various weather hazards that can damage your property. 🌬️ Monsoon Season is defined as the seasonal reversal of winds from June 15th through September 30th. That doesn’t necessarily mean that #thunderstorms will only develop during these dates, but rather this is a time of year to stay alert and aware of monsoon hazards, much like hurricanes have a defined season to stay prepared and ready for potential storms. 🌪️ #Arizona #Insurance #awareness #prepared #monsoonseason

Be safe and stay vigilant, Florida. • • • Air Station Clearwater is monitoring Tropical Storm Milton’s forecast development through the weekend and advise mariners and coastal residents to prepare your homes and boats, pay attention to weather forecasts, and listen to local officials for potential evacuation orders. Note: If you are leaving your boat at a marina or trailered with NO people onboard, please remove your EPIRB and stow or secure life jackets, life rings, paddle-craft and dinghies. These items can trigger false distress after a storm and pull critical lifesaving resources away from those in dire need. Stay off the water whenever possible as the storm approaches. Any vessels on the water should seek safe harbor outside of the path of the storm. The Coast Guard’s search and rescue capabilities degrade as storm conditions strengthen, and boatcrews or aircrews may not be able to respond immediately during the height of a hurricane. As a reminder, social media should never be used to report life-threatening distress. Call the Coast Guard on VHF marine radio channel 16 or dial 911 for emergencies. @nws @nwshc_hurricanes @fema @readygov @flsert @floridanationalguard @fdlepage @myfwc @my_fdot @uscg @uscglantarea @uscgheartland #HurricaneSzn2024 #HurricanePreparedness #semperparatus

Multiple Air Force Bases Move Aircraft Out of Tropical Storm Debby’s Way Aug. 5, 2024 | By John A. Tirpak Air Force units from Florida through the Carolinas moved their aircraft out of harm’s way Aug. 4 and 5, hoping to avoid the wind and especially flood waters expected with Tropical Storm Debby, which is expected to dump as much as 30 inches of rain on some southern areas over the next few days. Debby roared ashore in Florida early Aug. 1 as a Category 1 hurricane, with winds in excess of 75 miles per hour, pushing a 6-10-foot storm surge in Florida’s Big Bend area. But the National Weather Service swiftly downgraded the cyclone to a Tropical Storm and warned that its greatest peril would be as a slow-moving rainmaker, dumping tens of inches of rain as it slowly marched across northern Florida and southern Georgia to the Atlantic Ocean. There it is expected to strengthen and return inland, making its way north through central North Carolina and Virginia through the end of the week. #PhoenixDelivers #usaf #evacuation https://lnkd.in/e2eSrRDy

🌀FLORIDA PORT UPDATES🌀 Many of the Florida ports are now under ZULU status as Milton nears our state. Please take precautions and be prepared for disruption. The U.S. Coast Guard has a four-step process for setting port conditions during a hurricane or tropical storm, in advance of closing the port: - Port Condition Whiskey: Implemented 72 hours prior to expected tropical-storm-force winds of at least 39 mph. - Port Condition X-Ray: Implemented 48 hours prior to expected tropical-storm-force winds of at least 39 mph. - Port Condition Yankee: Implemented 24 hours prior to expected tropical-storm-force winds of at least 39 mph. - Port Condition Zulu: Implemented 12 hours prior to expected tropical-storm-force winds of at least 39 mph. When a port is at Zulu, it is closed to all vessel traffic and to ship-to-shore cargo operations, except those specifically authorized by the Coast Guard's captain of the port. Please visit the below link to learn more on individual port closures and updates. #hurricaneMilton #supplychainupdates #logistics #importexport #Floridaports #safety #partnershipmatters #weareGeodis #staysafeall #preparedness

Blistering heat has contributed to the swift spread of massive wildfires in western Canada and the western United States, burning hundreds of thousands of acres over the past week. These fires have forced thousands of evacuations, sent dense smoke plumes southeastward, and deteriorated air quality. Temperatures have soared above 100 degrees even in southern Canada, while California and other regions in the western United States are experiencing their hottest 30-day period ever recorded. Boise, Idaho, has hit at least 99 degrees for a record-breaking 16 consecutive days. Many fires were ignited by pinpoint lightning strikes in the midst of record-breaking heat and growing drought conditions. Wildfire Defense Systems, Inc. continues its coverage and response in both the US and Canada. #wildfire #insurance #lossprevention #emergencyresponse #canada
