In a recent forum, Mayors from across the country discussed the complex issue of homelessness. Mesa Mayor John Giles emphasized the seriousness of the problem and the need for permanent solutions. At the Arizona Housing Fund, we share this commitment. Together, we can make homelessness a thing of the past. Access to housing starts with something as simple as an ID. In its first year, a collaboration between the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Homeless ID Project provided IDs or other assistance to over 8,300 unhoused Arizonans! IDs unlock crucial services like housing, jobs, and healthcare. Congratulations to ADOT and the Homeless ID Project on this impactful collaboration! This partnership is proof that when we work together, we can make real progress in the mission to solve homelessness. Article linked in comments!

Homelessness in Arizona has risen nearly 30% since 2020, and today, over 14,000 people are without a home. Northern Arizona University researchers are leading the charge by identifying unpaid utility bills as a major red flag for potential homelessness and providing financial aid to those on the brink. Their $10 million program is helping local nonprofits prevent homelessness before it starts, while their Community Impact Fellows Program is training future workers to support those most in need. It’s all hands on deck to solve homelessness in Arizona and we’re glad that NAU is working to research the causes of homelessness, implement early intervention strategies, and support local organizations in their efforts to provide critical services and housing solutions. Prevention is key, and every step counts! #homelessness #housingcrisis #arizona #NAU
