Today, my team and #cohort2 for the #CCAM porgram of ACCES Employment finished Electric Motors, Actuators, and Drivers module, our 2nd micro-credentials. We got to test a DC & AC Motors, VFD, and how it aligns with the Mechatronics module. The machines & equipment might be different, depending on the industry and company. But the principles and fundamentals will be similar with the different lab exercises at #HumberCollege. Brett, Tony & Adi were patient enough to guide and make us understand the implications and how it relates to our daily lives and potential careers. Excited to share my recent project from the Model-based Development Diploma at OS-Academy! This project focuses on throttle position control in automotive systems, crucial for managing engine power by regulating air and fuel intake into the combustion chamber. The throttle employs two sensors to ensure accurate voltage output: one ranging from [0 , 4.5]V at standstill to fully pressed, and the other from [4.5 , 0]V in similar conditions. In normal mode, voltage accumulation is 5V. The project unfolds in several phases: 1. Plotting voltage output over time to observe throttle response. 2. Testing sensor failures by simulating out-of-range scenarios and ensuring coherence between sensor readings. 3. Implementing operational modes based on failure types: Normal mode for no failures, Downgraded mode (switching between sensors), and Failure mode for simultaneous sensor failures. 4. Integrating the system and adjusting air intake based on operational mode: maintaining input set point in Normal mode, reducing output by 25% in sensor failure scenarios, and setting output to 0 in Failure mode.
