Because you've got to lay the groundwork and convince people on the specific things you want to do differently. This campaign hasn't been like that. Collaboration will be crucial to bring in fresh ideas, to win people over when they are risk averse after so many challenging years, and to actually deliver tangible improvements to people's lives. As the nation goes to the polls this week there's a strong political flavour to Edition 22 of The QT — not least within our exclusive interview with the chair of the Common Sense Policy Group. Northumbria University's Prof Matthew Johnson presents a compelling case for change and outlines an ambitious social contract. Elsewhere Arlen Pettitt calls for collaboration in order to enable positive change across the North East and Tony Henderson opens the door to that firm regional favourite — the village hall. Simon Rushworth talks fitness with a new Tyneside-based firm and — in his weekly Off The Record column — turns back the clock to the summer of 2000 and a trip into the unknown. Plus we catch up with crime writer Trevor Wood and discover how the North East has been launching successful Olympic careers for 25 years. Live at noon!
