"For Christmas, my son Ashton, who is blind, asked us for an electric bike. I was a little nervous to get him one because he’s never tried one before. When I asked him why he wanted the bike, he explained it’s because he will never be able to drive and he wanted to learn how to drive something. It broke my heart to hear him say this and I knew I had to get him one for Christmas. Ashton has been riding a pedal bike since he was 7 so it only took him a few minutes to get on this one and start riding it. We guided him the same way we do when he rides his other bike and it worked. When he was going too far, we had my daughter Ocean riding next to him to guide him back to us. The Pune Porsche Pubbing AND Killing🗡️ 😡The outrage behind the killing of two 24-year old engineers by the Porsche driven by a drunk teenager is all over the news. Hope this becomes a Nirbhaya-kind movement. Why?⬇️ India is No.1️⃣ in road fatalities in the world, nothing to be so proud of. At 250,000 road accident deaths, 30 people die every hour! And this number is under-reported (by up to 50%). Reported accidents are 2X. If you apply the Heinrich Triangle Theory: For every accident, there are 30 near misses & 300 errors! Just read that again. Compounding this are narrow roads, lack of footpaths (hawker zone now), and sheer neglect of traffic rules😕 Beyond statistics, if you look under, 30 families are orphaned every hour in India. In this case, two 24 year olds. What their mothers must be going through! I am numb. I am a father too🥺 🏴☠️What stands out from the Porsche killing: 1. Drunk - ₹48,000 booze, 30% of road accidents happen due to alcohol. And yet, we drink & drive or allow our kids! Really!!😡 2. Under age -17 years, maximum deaths on road are by teenagers (and above 65 years). 21 years to vote and drink, yet 18 to drive? Does it make sense? Why? Inexperience kills. 3. Speed - 160 kmph: the car would have crossed the length of a cricket stadium in 2 seconds! Shouldn’t cars come at a fixed speed? 4. Time: 2:30 AM. Under slept! How many times will I say, sleep or die? Here someone else was killed because you did not sleep. Under-age, under-slept, drunk, and driving at 160 kmph = being high on Cocaine/Meth/Heroin/Oxy at the same time! You are a Kasab on rampage with a machine gun on 26/11. Are you a Kasab? Are you harboring a Kasab in your house?💁🏼 🧐What can we do to either not be Kasab or his victim? 1. Help stop this killing: start a movement like Mothers Against Drink Driving (MADD) in the USA. Support ‘savelifefoundation’. They are doing incredible work. 2. Teach your children how to drive safely. Until you are satisfied, don’t give them the keys.  3. Don’t drink. Period. If you do, don’t drive. Make this non-negotiable for your kids. 4. If under slept, take a cab. Drowsy driving = drunk driving (Remember Rishabh Pant). 5. Put a speed limit in your car if you have a teenage kid. Na rahega Baans, Na baajegi Baansuri. Speed kills😤 6. Don’t use mobile phones while driving. Distraction is the second biggest killer.  7. Don’t break traffic signals 8. Beware of two-wheelers/auto rickshaws/public buses/tempos. They f***ing don’t care.  9. As a pedestrian, try to be careful on empty roads. 10. Don’t be in a hurry to reach the office/home: later is better than never. 11. Avoid late-night strolls on empty big roads. 12. Forward this to as many as you can. Repost.  Sorry for being shameless. 🇮🇳Suggestion to my country: 1. Have stricter traffic rules and adherence. 2. Ruthless punishment & fines. 3. Faster judiciary for such killings.
