As I spend so much time in classrooms working with young people, it's evident that so many teenagers want to be independent, and to get that independence, they get their first job by the end of year 9. Those jobs mainly consist of the known pathways for a teenager, McDonalds, KFC or with their Parents/Guardian. What if we opened the doors for trades to be an option?#ConstructionAssociationofNovaScotia #CANS is doing just that. The #BuildingFuturesforYouth program run by Adam Gilbert and Tanya Reddick during the Summer holidays, provides opportunities for young people to learn life skills, get safety certificates, gain credits towards their high school graduation and GET PAID minimum wages (with the opportunity for double time like any other Employee), all with a wrap around check-in system. With a 95% successful completion rate and young women's involvement ever increasing (currently 16%), no wonder Industry Employers are coming back year on year for more students. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! At FRN, we recognize the incredible value and talent workers with disabilities bring to America’s workplaces and economy—not just in October but all year long. We're dedicated to ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to meaningful, competitive employment opportunities. One way we deliver on this commitment is through our EmployAbility program, which empowers individuals with disabilities by providing the tools and support needed to secure fulfilling careers in their communities. How the EmployAbility Program Works: ✅ Capacity Building for Support Coordination Agencies – We help agencies understand the importance of integrated employment and encourage individuals to pursue meaningful careers. ✅ 120-hour Internship Experience – Tailored to each participant’s career pathway, offering hands-on skill development and real-world industry experience. ✅ Comprehensive Job Training – Participants receive continuous support and guidance before, during, and after their internship. Since 2008, FRN’s employment programs have helped over 700 individuals secure part-time and full-time jobs across New Jersey. With EmployAbility, we continue to help individuals unlock their potential and make valuable contributions to their communities. Interested in learning more or getting involved? Contact us today to see how we can support you or someone you know on the path to meaningful employment. #Employment #Jobs #Disability #Inclusion #DisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth #FRN #FamilyResourceNetwork #EmployAbility #NJWork #NJJobs

Modern enterprises necessitate adaptable, robust, and versatile workers. Individuals with disabilities exhibit unparalleled ingenuity in problem-solving, translating into innovative thinking and diverse methodologies within the workplace. Despite their exceptional capabilities, they are often underutilized due to a lack of employer proficiency in effective recruitment and retention strategies. The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) presents a resource, “Building an Inclusive Workforce: Harnessing the Power of Diversity,” delineating four steps to enhance inclusion and capitalize on the talents of individuals with disabilities. Discover how Registered Apprenticeship programs can bolster accessibility and job opportunities, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic work environment. JVS alum Ibrahim Mohamed is featured in today's CalMatters article by Adam Echelman highlighting the High Road Training Partnership (HRTP), which provides state funding for programs that train workers for quality jobs and/or transform workplaces to provide better conditions, benefits, and wages for employees. Funding for workforce development programs that focus on family-sustaining careers in in-demand industries is vital to advancing economic equity and building a future where all workers can thrive. JVS receives HRTP funding for our training programs that support jobseekers on their paths to economic mobility, and our outcomes show what is possible when workforce development programs are adequately funded and centered around long-term worker achievements. Thanks to Ibrahim, JVS Senior Manager of Partnership Impact Elizabeth Toups, Contra Costa Water District, and CCWD DEI Workforce Development Program Manager Steven Currie (he, him, his) for being a part of this article. #HRTP #WorkforceDevelopment #QualityJobs #SustainableJobs #JVS #JVSBayArea https://lnkd.in/gmvuEQHW

Employment Services Specialist : Workforce Australia, Disability Employment Services, Labour Hire, Vocational Education.
The IntoWork Australia group brings the power of expert knowledge in Employment, Education & Training, Support and Disability Services. Yesterday saw the collaboration from Interact Australia People & Performance Leader, Sharon Meredith & Mas National Disability Engagement Lead, Kim Taylor. The ladies conducted a session with the National Careers & Mentoring Team highlighting JobAccess supports for apprentices & employers. Group discussion on examples of utalisation and exploration of how this funded support may be the game changer in an apprentice having capacity to fulfil on and off job requirements reminded all staff that there is potential in everything. Mas is committed to ensuring more people with a disability are represented in VET pathways, the statistics are far too low and we need to change that. We need to work with employers to remove bias and stigma and demonstrate that though collaboration with Mas and supports such as JobAccess, DES Work Assist and DAAWS, hurdles become opportunities for success. Young people with learning disabilities statistically have a just a 6% chance of entering paid employment when they leave education. If students have 4 meaningful interaction with employers they are motr likely to go on to employment. Finding opportunities for students with SEND, particularly within bigger organisations, are limited and students with SEND find it much more difficult than their non-disabled peers to find meaningful interactions with employers. 🌳Ross Musgrove🌳 thank you for sharing this interesting article. you can read more here >>https://lnkd.in/eXNsTTPA If you and your company would like to change these stats then please do get in touch. My students are looking for work placements as part of their course in a huge range of different sectors. #breakdownbarriers #equalopportunituesforall #workplacementsforthedisabled
