There's no one approach to #productmanagement in Deep Tech. Having worked on enterprise-scale products, and then built a SaaS company from the ground up, I found it challenging to connect the dots when joining a #quantumcomputing startup. Which framework, what system, and how to guide the team through clear changes of organisational priorities? Some of these challenges come from the unique cold start problems of a new Deep Tech venture. Others from the profile of stakeholders and their own challenges in evolving with the company. Let alone the underlying frontiers being probed (hello science!). It's a great problem space and one that can trip us up quickly, and often, as it mixes the best challenges of maintaining a high velocity of communication and clarity with a very long arc of science to technology to engineering to product... 🌍DeepL expands to the US with a new tech hub in New York City. DeepL has announced the opening of its first US Tech Hub in New York, marking a significant investment to accelerate its growth in the region. “Launching DeepL’s first US tech hub in New York City positions us at the centre of one of the largest talent pools,” said CEO Jaroslaw (Jarek) Kutylowski, highlighting plans to double the office size in the next year. The New York office will focus on research and product development, supporting a growing base of US customers, including partnerships with 50% of the Fortune 500 and top firms like Zendesk and Coursera. In addition to the new hub, DeepL strengthened its leadership with two new executives: Sebastian Enderlein as CTO and Steve Rotter as CMO. Enderlein expressed excitement about DeepL’s mission to address language barriers, calling it "a massively exciting opportunity." This expansion comes amid a period of rapid growth for DeepL, with the company unveiling updates to its Glossary feature and launching a next-generation large language model, which outperforms competitors like GPT-4. If you want some good news, the tech market for large public companies is really warming up: There's a notable uptick in technology hiring for enterprise tech and product leaders and especially their teams. A big driver is investment in AI adoption and novel applications.
