You might be wondering why the Department of Defense is funding lupus research. Congress established the CDMRP (Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs) in 1992 to ensure the health of Department of Defense personnel, recognizing its importance to national security. Diseases affecting the general public also impact the military, making medical research a priority. Military personnel are exposed to several factors associated with the development of lupus and other autoimmune diseases, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chemicals and toxins, ultraviolet (UV) light, and infectious agents. Research funded by the Lupus Research Program aims to study these triggers and determine their effects on the immune system. #DoD #LUPUSRESEARCH #LUPUSADVOCACY

March this year (2024) marked the 5th anniversary of the death of Andrew W. Marshall, long-time director of the Office of Net Assessment in the U.S. Department of Defense. On this occasion, one of the "apologists" of the Net Assessment methodology, Eliot A. The National Archives in College Park, MD, holds a vast collection of records pertaining to U.S. Army operations during World War II. The largest series is the World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948, which contains nearly 20,000 boxes of records. These records include unit histories, after-action reports, operation reports, journals, general orders, and intelligence reports. Recently, multiple records related to D-Day operations have been digitized and can be viewed online in the National Archives Catalog. The records detail the actions of the 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions on Omaha Beach, as well as maps, overlays, and sketches showing the Allies' movements during the invasion.
