Linux Kernel Routing ░▒▓█► ✿✿✿✿ 𝐂𝐒𝐄𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐬 ✿✿✿✿◄█▓▒░ The Linux kernel routing process is a key part of the Linux networking subsystem. It decides how to handle network packets coming in an out of the system. When a network packet arrives at the system, the operating system needs to decide what to do with it. This could mean forwarding the packet to another system, or sending it to a local application using a socket. This decision-making process is handled by the kernel routing. The kernel maintains a routing table that contains a list of destinations and the next hop to get there. This table is used to figure out what to do with a network packet. The kernel uses various metrics to figure out the best path for a packet. The routing process works as follows: 1. When a packet arrives at the system, it's first processed by the network device driver. 2. The packet is then passed to the kernel network stack for further processing. 3. The kernel checks its routing table to decide where to forward the packet to. This could be a local process or another system altogether. 4. If the packet is meant for a local process, the kernel sends it to the process through a socket. If it's meant for another system, the kernel forwards it to the appropriate network interface. 5. The network interface sends out the packet to its next destination. The kernel routing table can be manually modified using tools such as 'route', 'ip', or more advanced routing tools. It can also be auto-configured by certain protocols like DHCP, or even modified by firewalls to redirect traffic. Linux kernel routing is often used in network servers, routers, firewalls, and other network devices. It's used when you need to control how traffic is directed in and out of the system, or when you need to manage more complex network scenarios like multi-homing or routing based on certain policies, etc. It is also used for traffic isolation, balancing, and redundancy. It is critical to understand the concept if one needs to manage or troubleshoot the network behavior of Linux systems. What platforms and systems are IT admins in my network using for monitoring remote networks and servers? I have my own bag of tools but interested to know what others prefer.

If you know anyone looking for a Sys Admin role that can commute to an office in Chandler AZ, please pass this along. 😊 I'm not sure how strict they are on having the Secret Clearance (they might be willing to get it for you) but I know the Education and Experience is flexible. I didn't have the listed experience and no degree but I got in. Don't let the Job Description scare you. It's packed but we need someone with general Sys Admin experience, a great attitude, and willingness to learn a lot. The job is more about breadth of knowledge rather than depth. I can give tips on how to pick up necessary skills on Linux, Windows, VMware, or DevOps. If you have 1 or 2 of those skills, give it a shot and let me know if I can help with the others.
