Here at Nemera, we are continuously improving the sustainability of our company to help benefit the environment. We aim to obtain all our electricity from renewable sources by 2030, including our manufacturing facilities. ⚡️ In 2023, our Buffalo Grove office building, upgraded their light system to LED lighting. ⚡️ This led to a saving of 97,474 tons of CO2, and 491,610 tons of nitrogen oxides annually. To give a better idea, it's the equivalent of 16 acres of trees planted, and 7,705 gallons of gasoline saved each year. Read more in our ESG report! Did you know that while digital communication is often advertised as eco-friendly, it may not be as green as we think? 🌿 The Environmental Impact of Print vs Digital Media 🌿 Recent data reveals that digitalisation contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. Digital media accounts for 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, compared to just 0.8% for the print and paper sector. Moreover, data centres alone are responsible for 2.5-3.7% of human-induced CO2 emissions, surpassing even the aviation industry. In contrast, the paper industry has made significant strides in sustainability. Since 1990, the paper industry has reduced its carbon emissions by 48% and is the largest user of renewable energy in Europe, with 62% of its primary energy coming from renewable sources.
