How do you safely dismantle a 138-meter-tall tower? 🤔
In our series highlighting projects around the later stages of the building life cycle, today we reflect on the dismantling of the iconic "Deutsche Welle" studio towers in Cologne, Germany.
Standing tall at 138 meters, these towers were a landmark, but they needed to make way for new development. Doka took on the challenge, implementing our Xclimb 60 protection screens to safely dismantle the towers from top to bottom.
"Our goal was to ensure the safety of both the site team and the surrounding community while minimizing noise and dust," states Christian Bähr, project lead at Doka. "The Xclimb 60 screens provided the perfect solution, allowing to work efficiently and safely at great heights."
Project Highlights:
👉 Careful step-by-step demolition: Reduced noise, dust, and debris while ensuring safety.
👉 Full protection for workers and the community: Shielded from wind, weather, and falling debris.
👉 Asbestos handling: Efficient and safe removal with environmental care.
Renovation and dismantling projects are no longer just a niche activity; they're becoming a cornerstone of shaping our built environment. Doka provides a diverse range of formwork and scaffolding solutions tailored to meet the specific demands of such projects.
