The Arkansas Problem Gambling Council is excited to be invited back to AARP Arkansas Scam Jam 2024 on Thursday, October 17, 5:30-8 p.m. at the University of Central Arkansas, Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center, next to Arkansas PBS, which is located at 350 S. Donaghey Ave, Conway. This event brings together a panel of experts to share knowledge and answer questions. Panelists will represent Medicare/Insurance, Banking/Student Loan, Veterans, Online Gaming, the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office Department of Consumer Protection, and more. Guests can expect food and drinks, a DJ, a photo booth, and information tables. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is greatly appreciated for accurate food/drink count. *Limited seating still available. Doors to the event open at 5:30, and the panel discussion should start between 6-6:15. Guests will have an opportunity to visit with panelists and information tables and enjoy food, drink, and music from 7-8 p.m.

Arkansas Problem Gambling Council attended The Arkansas Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors Fall Workshop at Degray Lake. The Executive Director and Board Member took a shot at Responsible Gambling Stats and Facts while speaking with fellow counselors about the importance of problem gambling disorder screening, assessment and treatment resources. ☑️Did you know: In Clark County, AR Lottery ticket sales in during September 2024 totaled $407,309, according to a report released by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration – Office of the Arkansas Lottery. The figure is down from $445,604 in August lottery sales. We took time to discuss the potential socieconomics effects of sales as it relates to residents overall financial health. The Arkansas Problem Gambling Council teams up to talk about Responsible Gaming with Arkansas Money & Politics. Arkansas Problem Gambling Council (ARPG Council) joins the AGA in its celebration of RGEM, which complements the council’s ideas to increase the awareness of problem gambling issues as an addiction and to offer resources and treatment options for those needing help. “For #RGEM2024, we are going beyond mental health and reaching into technology-based resources by collaborating with gaming and casino operators to create innovative RGEM opportunities,” Executive Director Vena M. The National Council on Problem Gambling has released its 2024 National State Scores, evaluating Responsible Gambling Standards and Sports Betting Regulations. Arkansas received a score of 10 out of 24, highlighting areas for improvement and the challenges faced by the Arkansas Problem Gambling Council in securing resources and funding to achieve its objectives.
