Internships are a vital part of Array of Engineers. Every year we try to tweak, improve, expand, and enhance Array of Engineers' summer internship program. After talking with many high school students and teachers over the past year, we learned that many people don't go into engineering because they don't understand what an engineer actually does. We decided to include a small group of high school students in our internship program this summer who were interested in engineering, technology, and being creative.
These students have been working on an internal project alongside college interns and full-time employees. They have learned how to solder, 3D print, create electrical cables, code simple embedded systems, and gained a basic knowledge of electrical engineering, mechanical systems, and Python coding. But most importantly, they have learned how to: work in a team environment; communicate with their peers; overcome technical challenges; be an advocate and ask questions to senior engineers, and what it means to work at an engineering technology company located right here in West Michigan. We have been immensely impressed by our high school interns this summer!!
