Several fold. Number one. For decades. You know we've been. Attempting to lower triglycerides to reduce the. Triglyceride rich remnant lipoproteins are the remnant cholesterol. And the remnant cholesterol in the, you know, in these remnants opposite carries about four times more cholesterol per particle than an LDL particle. And the remnants get taken up into the arterial wall and contribute to cardiovascular disease. We just haven't had good tools that reduce. You know the remnant cholesterol and reduce the total number of LDL particles. The second most commonly prescribed class of lipid lowering medications worldwide are fibrates. And fibrates, you know, lower triglycerides may have a very modest effect on remnants, but not don't change the total number of particles. And in the recent, you know what several years ago now Pima fibrate study, you know there was no change shift to those 5% increase in April B the major structural protein on the atherogenic lipoproteins and the trial failed to reduce cardiovascular events. Then we have studies with. You make it 3 fatty acids that may lower triglycerides modestly. And increase LDL cholesterol. And, don't you know, change the apple bee? And you know, those studies have failed, you know, consistently with the exception of icosapent, ethyl or Vascepa. Which has a very modest effect on triglycerides and the main effect of that therapy on cardiovascular band reduction is altering the ratio of the eicosapentaenoic acid to arachidonic acid, you know, some more along its anti-inflammatory, you know, pathway, not along its triglyceride, you know, pathway. So we know that remnant cholesterol is a powerful predictor of atherosclerotic cardiovascular events and classical epidemiology as well as Mendelian randomization studies. We just haven't had the tools that you know. Pause A moderate to marked reduction in remnant cholesterol while also reducing the total number of atherogenic lipoproteins. Thus. You know, both those aspirin and sodas, Erin, provide that opportunity to test that hypothesis, which is very extensively. You know, established, you know, from an epidemiological perspective.

September is National #CholesterolEducationMonth and we’re shedding light on the role of cholesterol found in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. Elevated levels of these fats in the blood play a significant role in the development of #CardiovascularDisease. Our investigational #RNAi therapeutic may help lower these levels in people with elevated triglycerides.
