More than merely existing in the present, with a stable form and defined body, the collection projects itself into the future, envisioning itself as an endless exercise of imagination and desire. At the same time, while much of private collecting with institutional aspirations seeks to define, in the present moment, which past will be important for the future, the Vasco Collection views collecting as the self-expression of individual subjectivity - subject to inflections, advances, setbacks, hesitations, but also unquestionable certainties. Far from being an exhaustive or definitive approach to the collection, the exhibition thematically explores the representation of the human figure, both through its presence and absence, as well as ideas of representation and identity, creating a path that is both sensitive and critical, where the human body is in constant transformation. #vascocollection #art #artcollection #artists
