Mine rescue and first aid teams from mines across the province made their way to BRITANNIA MINE MUSEUM this past weekend to compete in the 66th annual BC Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition. Well done to all competitors, volunteers and supporters who turned up in force on the shores of Howe Sound. The 2024 competition saw mine rescue teams from as far as Dease Lake compete neck in neck, demonstrating not only their exceptional mine rescue and first aid skills, but also their dedication and passion for what they do. Every participant and team deserve recognition for their performance, with special mention to the overall winners: • Best Underground Mine Rescue Team: Newmont Corporation, Red Chris mine • Best Surface Mine Rescue Team: Hudbay Minerals Inc., Copper Mountain mine • Best Three-person First Aid Team: Hudbay Minerals Inc., Copper Mountain mine Congratulations to the winners and the other teams who took home the hardware! 🏆 Mine rescuers truly are the heart and soul of our industry. Kudos to the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation for putting on a great competition and to the BRITANNIA MINE MUSEUM for their hospitality and for hosting a great event.
