Workers arriving at the #LondonZoo early Tuesday were surprised to discover an unexpected exhibit that suggested the animals were being set free. A #mural by elusive street artist Banksy showed a #gorilla holding up the entrance gate as birds took flight and a sea lion waddled away. Three sets of eyes peered out from the darkness inside. #Banksy #ArtHouseArt #StreetArt #Art4All #ArtCulture #SocialArt #Banksy9 #ArtBusiness #Graffiti https://lnkd.in/g6idSrPp art-house.art

**FINALIST - Wildlife Artist of the Year 2024** 😃 …a post about not giving up, or losing hope. I'm so excited to announce that TWO of my paintings have been shortlisted for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) Wildlife Artist of the Year competition, with the London exhibition details as follows: Wildlife Artist of the Year 2024 2nd - 6th July Mall Galleries, The Mall, London And now... here's a glimpse behind-the-scenes! I have been entering this competition every year for A DECADE. Every year it costs me to enter, and every year, until now, it has been a 'no'. There is no feedback, just rejection. It's incredibly demoralising, especially as there's no reason other than that your work just isn't as good as other artists. It's enough to make you doubt your abilities, your credentials and your other business successes. Imposter syndrome creeps in, and without some sort of success elsewhere in the business, it can be enough to make you run back to the comfort of a 'real' job with a stable salary! I hope by sharing this post that my fellow artists, or fellow entrepreneurs in whichever field you're currently stressing in, will realise that EVERYONE has a behind-the-scenes alternative to the successful, LinkedIn-worthy, achievement posts. For every shiny story there are ten rejections, or a hundred setbacks, all of which require us to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and start all over again. This is just an attempt to #KeepItReal so that others in the s(h)ame spiral can see that it’s all just part of the process. And if you’re only in love with the end product of an established business, and not the process of getting there… then for God’s sake don’t become an entrepreneur! You’ll be able to vote for ‘Splashing’ and ‘What Lies Beneath’ for the People’s Choice award, details of which will be published in the coming days. And if you'd like to reserve either of them for sale, please get in touch. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to DSWF. So what if you stumble every now and then, you get up, learn from it and persevere. You. Can. Do. It. In my opinion, an image that should go down in history as one of the most powerful reminders of #globalwarming, and that we must do all we can to save our planet. #photography #wildlifephotography #environmentalimpact
Such a phenomenal, powerful photo! The winner of the Natural History Museum, London's Wildlife Photographer of the Year award is Nima Sarikhani, for his captivating image of a polar bear sleeping on sea ice. "Sarikhani's thought-provoking image is a stark reminder of the integral bond between an animal and its habitat and serves as a visual representation of the detrimental impacts of climate warming and habitat loss" ~ Natural History Museum director Dr. Douglas Gurr.
