Something I've been musing about recently (and semi work related): I think we're probably in the tail-end period of usability and value of the public internet. With the proliferation of content generated by LLM's which are trained on the internet data, but also trained to generate content which "sounds believable" our of the aggregate data (without any actual knowledge or ability to check validity), the reliability and usefulness of the public internet data will decline over time. As the bot-garbage propagates, it will likely overwhelm "real" information, even without people leveraging LLM's for disinformation (as is already happening, with successful effect, because people are relatively easy to influence). I wonder if, at some point, we will be telling stories to our grand children about the period of time when the information which was free on the internet was also reasonably good and reliable, and not a wasteland of bot-garbage and propaganda spewed into the world, to be consumed by perpetually ill-informed people, and/or those conditioned to be easily entertained by zero-value content (not unlike what most of cable television has become now).

As an #introvert who shies from attention / the limelight (like my mother), I like to share items of Public Interest, and try to #forensically #overview many things that might contribute to the benefit of the #planet and #humankind. I love #GeoPolitics #economics #valuation #appraisal (aka finding “Value” what is Value? 😊) #USAPolitics (it is Leader of the Free World stuck in a ditch) debate and try to contribute to these things in an Unbiased / neutral / positive way. I am also the #inventor of quite valuable #IntellectualProperty namely our SaaS to evaluate a #reasonable #rent for #ONE #retail #shop highly suited to sit on #google #microsoft #apple Mapping Platforms. It is Internationally Transferable. It is For Sale. I do NOT actively target #followers; they find me! Popularity is something I also do not care about. I am me. It is truly astonishing how many people are obviously accessing my thoughts views ideas Intellectual Property. This Public Interest Document published by the Commonwealth Government of Australia (1995) has been Accessed 9,000 times (two posts) entitled: ‘A Public Interest Document ‘Background Paper 12 1995-96 New Ideas, Old Laws: Copyright, Patents, Trade Marks and Designs, and How to Avoid Plagiarism’ shared in the vein of me understanding how to protect my IP obviously linked to avoiding plagiarism and AI. Coverage on the US Elections received almost 3,100 impressions last week; another re Retail Business Failures 250 in light of linking physical space to RENT; the Public Interest document received another 540 alone; residential house prices 240 almost yesterday alone; the US Congress and Republican Party almost 200 re putting the USA on the back foot from a Geo political point of view; my compliments to Bill Gates and Prof. Robert Reich 80 – 100. New paper out! 🎉 With Sophie Weerts, we show how the EU, with the DSA, is trying to bring the terms of use of social media companies into line with the legal certainty principle to bring users better transparency. We make three main contributions, based on a case study of Facebook's community standards. - At present, Facebook's standards do not comply with the requirements of Article 14 DSA. This article is a good illustration of the efforts of the EU to incorporate human rights-inspired processes into content moderation. - Significant changes would be required to comply with Art. 14. If these changes occur, they could have an impact beyond the EU, as non-EU countries could see changes in social media policies as a result of the DSA requirements. -Community standards are ontollogically embedded in the self-regulatory technological infrastructure developed by social media companies for content moderation. They were not designed to be external communication tools. It will therefore not be easy to make these standards change to satisfy legal certainty requirements. A failure to make these changes would show a limit of the DSA human rights-inspired approach. Do not hesitate to reach out if it inspires any thoughts or if you'd like to discuss it 😊 IDHEAP FDCA UNIL - Faculté de droit, des sciences criminelles et d'administration publique
